We stayed in the cottages, not the treehouses, and unfortunately the cottages are very run down, they need a major update and some new furniture would help. Not as clean as we would have hoped.

It's a lovely place. Meals were hearty home cooking, perfect for the colder weather. Host was welcoming.

the cottage where we were staying was surely not matching the price we were paying. that price could have been worth for the tree houses but the cottage was absolutely disappointing, cold, old, uncomfortable overall.

Sycamore Treehouses has intrigued me for some time now to come and try it out and also after hearing from a friend that frequented it years back. Looked and sounded great and that we had lovely views etc in the tree! We were excited to give it a try and booked for hubby and I. As a photographer I was up there for business at a wedding venue nearby and took the opportunity to book Sycamore. On route I called Sycamore to confirm finer details on passing shops what we needed etc for our stay. On our arrival we met with the owner and to my surprise he mentioned if I was aware that I only booked for one person. This took me off guard as my impression on the booking was for a couple and nothing was mentioned or checked/confirmed so took for granted it was a booking for two people. On checking in and finding this out to our surprise, he did give the opportunity to change our minds or settle the balance. Hubby mentioned we will look at our accommodation and make our decision from there. It wasn't what we thought and weren't keen to look at the freeway all afternoon even though the description says mountain view. We decided to take his offer of changing our minds, especially at the expense of R2600, even though dinner & breakfast was included. For us, it was too expensive for what you're getting. On returning to the owner, he was not willing to refund a cent, even though he gave us the option initially. People must please be aware on booking that you need to specify youre booking as a couple as we learnt the hard way from them and being unreasonable in refunded us, even just a portion of our money. This is the first time its happened where ive made a booking and on arrival mentioned ive booked for one person. How does that work? It should naturally include 2 like most accommodations do.

Cottages are not part of the establishment. The Tree houses, hosts , dining room are all together in a fenced area the cottages are next door with NO security anyone can walk in I was so nervous that I never slept in fear of being attacked. I don’t think the hosts ever look at the cottages the couch belongs on the scrap heap. Miss matched pieces of furniture. Behind the cottages is infrastructure facilities. There was a magazine on the table dd 2011 !

Nothing! Do NOT book a cottage. It’s all about the tree houses and the cottages are neglected and do not belong at this establishment!

The bed was uncomfortable and we had body pain when we wake up.

The host was very friendly and kind. Location was awesome and worth for the money. Food was great both breakfast and dinner. Very safe.

Overall, happy with everything.

The breakfast was adequate. A little more variety would have been appreciated. The design of the treehouse and the attention to detail was excellent!

The uncomfortable mattress on the bed. Cottage was not as clean as it could be. The security gate lock did not work. The Electric Distribution Board is in the bathroom above the bath! Super dangerous! The fireplace did not close properly resulting in much smoke in the room.

Absolutely amazing accommodation situated in Mooi River. Well worth the stay and value for money. Dinner, bed and breakfast. There is a cosy bar, a dining room with a lovely fireplace and incredible woodwork throughout.

Breakfast and Dinner was excellent and well prepared, Staff and Owner was Friendly. Premises and Cabin was clean and neat. I will defiantly recommend Sycamore Avenue Treehouses & Cottages. Value for money.

There was nothing not to like. The ladders in the treehouse are very steep, so probably not a good idea for elderly or handicapped persons.

We loved everything about this unique accommodation. Such a romantic setup with a great fireplace and Jacuzzi Spa bath. Comfortable bed with great linen. All expectations exceeded.

Staying in the treehouses is such a fun experience, they are beautifully designed and are far away enough from each other that you feel like you are alone in nature. Having breakfast and dinner on the property is a wonderful touch.

Very unfriendly reception limited choice of food, although it was cold the fireplace was not lid. I got the impression the host did not want to make any efford for guests during the week

The food was not good; not child friendly at all. My daughter is 6 years old, and was expected to eat roast chicken and over-roasted (burnt and hard) potatoes, steamed green beans and broccoli for supper. I asked for something else for her, they said thats all they have. Off course i wasnt going to let my daughter starve as i did pay for her meals afterall! So i asked for some cheese and bread and butter and fed her that (could've paid R20 for that from a shop!). For breakfast, it was the same: English breakfast and cereals, but no child friendly foods, not even viennas/sausages. I couldnt understand why there were no sausages served. So i asked to make a cheese toast. Please could they improve on their meals for kids - we also pay for the meals for our kids and they shouldnt expect them to be served that same stuff they serve the adults. Kids have different tastes; they like things like sausages, viennas, chips, chicken strips, pizzas, mac and cheese, burgers, etc. NOT broccoli and steamed green beans and rubbery, over-grilled potatoes!
