We arrived in Fez late in the evening by train. Our host, Hicham, had already sent us a message that morning saying he was expecting us and would be happy to help if we had any questions. He also offered their private taxi service so we wouldn’t have to look for transportation ourselves, which was already a kind gesture. When we arrived at the accommodation, he welcomed us with mint tea in the beautiful mosaic-tiled entrance hall and offered us the option of choosing an upstairs room instead of a ground-floor one, if we wished. We took the upstairs room, which was spacious and well kept. The air conditioning worked well, and we didn’t feel cold at night, even though the weather was quite cool. The next morning, the breakfast really surprised me because it was plentiful, with fruit, eggs, pancakes, and pastries. Hicham gave us a map of Fez and explained how to get to the main sights within the medina, as well as what to pay attention to when walking around the city in the evening. The accommodation is in a very good location; everything can be reached on foot. (Google Maps works very well on mobile phones in Fez as well. We bought a SIM card with 50 GB of data at the airport from the Orange provider, and it worked perfectly even in the narrow, hidden streets, so we didn’t feel lost in the evenings either.) I would also like to specifically mention the laundry service, which worked very well. We handed in our clothes in the morning, and by the evening they were clean and neatly folded on our bed. It’s very reasonably priced, and Hicham almost didn’t want to accept the money for it :) We asked him whether he could recommend a desert tour from Fez to Marrakech. Of course, he immediately recommended two options: 1 night / 2 days, or 2 nights / 3 days. We chose the latter and the company he recommended, “Desert Life Tours.” We were able to arrange the booking on the spot. Situado apenas a 2 minutos a pé da Medina in Fès, este riad com ar condicionado dispõe de um terraço no último piso. The staff here were incredibly helpful and so genuinely nice. They were always available when we needed anything and offered great suggestions for things to do and see in the area. The riad itself was beautiful, comfortable, and very clean, and the food was absolutely amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

Gostei de tudo, mas realço a simpatia dos funcionários, sempre dispostos a ajudar e a esclarecer todas as dúvidas. Realmente fizeram a diferença. O interior é lindissimo, o rooftop fantástico, o quarto muito limpo e espacoso. O pequeno almoço devinal (servido no rooftop) com vistas para toda a medina.

Dar Derb El Miter is a fantastic place to stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely comfortable and warmly welcomed. The accommodation is spotless and very well cared for. Amin is an excellent host who was always happy to share helpful tips and recommendations. The ladies who prepared the breakfast were incredibly kind and hardworking, always greeting us with big smiles that made our mornings start on a positive note. One of the biggest advantages of this place is its location: less than a one-minute walk away there is a guarded parking area that costs 40 dirhams per day, which is extremely convenient.

The whole experience exceeded our expectations, a real oasis in the madness of the old medina. The staff were excellent and the riad renovated with amazing skill by the owners who were lovely and very proud to show off there place.
