We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Postmaster's Cottage at the Cable Station outside Stanley. It is in a very quiet spot, closeby the coast. There is a bit of a view of the water, but the land is flat and I wouldn't call it a great view. However, the accommodation is certainly great. This cottage is a marvellous mix of original charm and modern convenience. A new kitchen, very well provisioned including a dining area with a wonderful live edged wooden dining table in one large entry room. Then a comfortable living room with a large TV and a wood fire which we didn't use this time as it was too warm. The bedroom is also large, with a comfortable king sized bed and then a huge bathroom off it. This has double rainhead showers, double vanities, loo in a corner alcove and a freestanding spa bath which we greatly appreciated. There is a BBQ area outside with wind cover and a large BBQ. There is also a seating area out front on a patio, but we didn't use that area. The size of the cottage was a real plus for us as we'd been travelling and finding even expensive accommodation was often small and somewhat cramped. That is certainly not the case here and the price was very reasonable for what was on offer.
