Lovely decor, beautiful grounds, warm people, amazing fruit juice, good breakfast. We were just passing through on a short stay. The owners went over and above - received us very late at night, carried our bags up stairs, looked after everything we needed including booking us a taxi from Airport and a driver to take us to our next destination Sigiriya while stopping so we can tour Dambulla caves. Felt safe and looked after. Hoping to return!

The property was beautiful and well maintained. Bed was comfortable, shower has good water pressure. Really enjoyed the layout. They also have cute puppies to greet you at the door! They picked me up from the airport and gave detailed instructions with photos of the airport meeting point (post office) and the vehicle and plate number.

The hotel does not look or feel like a five star property. It needs renovations, rooms are somewhat tired, especially the floor and some details in the bathroom. The balcony was dirty. The pool is really small, but has a in pool bar which is cool. The staff was very nervous about the wedding that was in the hotel, which was quite loud until 11.30pm. The food is also not great - avoid the burger, ceasar salad

Very nice little pool and garden, quiet location yet only a short walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. Basic but comfortable room. Kind and helpful staff, though they deferred any questions about things like late check out to be asked through booking.com messaging. But this communication method worked reasonably well.

Family House was the perfect start to my Sri Lanka trip. A peaceful guesthouse in a quiet neighborhood but within short and easy walking distance of the beaches and restaurants. Cees and Chandi were excellent hosts and very accommodating of any requests and questions. The room was comfortable with AC on request (do this at booking). Cees also accommodated my late flight arrival (and delay) with an airport pick up. A generous breakfast is provided. I highly recommend Family House.
