Things to Do in Sedona

Oak Creek Canyon
Breathtaking countryside, a rainbow of foliage, and a star-spangled sky to look at – it takes a lot to beat this sliver of Stateside beauty. Treetops stand against a blue-tinted background that’s illuminated by constellations, trailed by streaks of light, and occasionally interrupted by the blaze of a shooting star.
Sedona Astronomy Tour
The starry skies of Sedona are famous around the world – and for good reason. With little to no light pollution, high altitude and over 300 clear nights a year, this pretty desert town might just be the best stargazing spot in this galaxy. You’ll see constellations, planets and star clusters, and the top notch telescopes will make them appear close enough to touch.
Red Rock State Park
Sedona’s cloudless skies and pitch-dark desert location make for prime stargazing conditions. The Red Rock State Park is packed with lookout spots – take an organized astronomy tour to identify planets, constellations and satellites, or just relax on a blanket to watch the sun go down and the cosmos twinkle to life.

How did you find the best spot for stargazing in Sedona?

The whole city is great for stargazing. They have a light ordinance at night, so you can really see the stars.
The balcony at my hotel room at Orchard's Inn was an excellent place to stargaze.
Just randomly pulled over into a state trailhead parking lot.
I just Walked outside of room.
On-line and AAA travel book.

Sedona Highlights

Stargazing
Though it can get pretty chilly out in the Arizona desert, it’s worth it to get away from all that light pollution and see the true glory of the night sky revealed. In Sedona the naked eye is enough to discover cosmic wonders like the Andromeda galaxy, but it’s best to grab a tour with a telescope so you can marvel in the sight of binary stars, the Orion nebula and a whole lot more.
