The communication with Andreas the owner was great, he was there and answered all our questions personally and helped with anything we needed. For a family with 2 young children we were surprised by the amount of toys, books and helpful accesories - even stuff we don't have at home! The pool was comforting in the extreme heat wave we were experiencing.

Located 200 metres from the beach, the boutique Hotel Opera is located in Larnaca, on the square of Saint Lazarus with the church, restaurants and cafeterias. This is exactly what I hoped to find for my winter getaway vacation in Cyprus. The hotel is charming, bright, and welcoming with a 24-hour staff. The bed was enormous, the amenities in the room showed care for the guests. For example, unlike my previous stay nearby in Larnaca, when I stayed at the unfriendly and unstaffed Alkisti, the room had a thoughtfully provided a converter for EU-style plugs (I had asked to borrow one at the Alkisti and the owner snapped, 'no, you'll have to go buy one, all the guests steal them"). The room had a kettle, teabags and a refrigerator. The lighting and the end tables are very comfortably arranged, with outlets on both sides for charging, and the switches for the lights right on the headboard. The bed is enormous, with a good mattress. Room lighting covers all bases - you have a soft, warm bedside lamp, and two different overhead lamps giving you the choice of lighting for reading. It was very easy and comfortable to read in bed as a result. The wardrobe has extra blankets and pillows, and the air-conditioning/heating unit includes a timer function so you can have it shut off after you fall asleep for a deeper sleep in a cooler room. The little balcony is sunny and a pleasant spot for reading, coffee, or in my case, knitting, and you can watch interesting goings-on with the locals downstairs at their shops and businesses in the alley. There is a welcoming common area and larger balcony by the front desk. What I especially love is having a front desk that is staffed 24/7, for that extra bit of support and reassurance. They were always ready with suggestions, or to call a taxi or make sure I woke up for my early-morning flight. The location is superb, with cafe's, a bakery, several restaurants and the splendour of the Church of St. Lazarus at the doorstep. I think that being on the ancient square is the perfect location in Larnaca.
