NH Gran Hotel Casino de Extremadura is next to the Guadiana River, 10 minutes’ walk from Badajoz city centre and Alcazaba Fortress. It offers free WiFi and houses the Gran Casino de Extremadura. The facilities are excellent, the room was quiet (with a nice view of the Guadiana river) and the location was also very good (close to the bridge that leads to the old town). But the highlight was the amicability and professionalism of its staff, particularly DAVID at the reception who went out of his way to give us a nicer room and much earlier than the standard check-in time. This is the attitude that differentiates certain hotel staff from others, and DAVID's attitude in pleasing the customer is rated at the top of his profession. I congratulate NH Extremadura for the quality of its staff, as represented by DAVID.

We had an excellent experience in Hotel Rural Principe, a very cozy and relaxing historic place. The welcome was extremely friendly. The rooms and bathrooms are big and comfortable and the place is very quiet. The hotel is very nicely decorated with jazz music themes, each room is dedicated to a jazz legend, the owners are jazz musicians and we had nice talks about music. There are a few good restaurants close to the hotel, just a few meters walk. Worth its money and we would definitely come back when in the area.

Hotel Plaza Grande is set in a charming town house, where the writer Dulce Chacón was born. Located on Zafra's Plaza Grande Square, it offers attractive rooms and a restaurant. Great location in the old town

This modern guest house in central Mérida is just 100 metres from the National Museum of Roman Art and 150 metres from the Roman amphitheatre. It has free WiFi. Excellent from the start. Very friendly staff. They allowed our bikes inside which the garden area. Great location. Really lovely room considering it’s only 2 star.

This modern guest house has traditional Moorish-style design, with Arabic rugs and fabrics. Rooms at La Flor de Al-Andalus offer free WiFi, air conditioning and a safe. Everything was perfect. The location is great, and the parking is just a couple of minutes’ walk away. We paid €11 for parking for the whole day, and it’s a dog-friendly place. We only had to pay an extra €8, which is reasonable. It was warm and very clean.
