Located in the centre of the old city we walked to all the vantage points to see this incredible location. A bonus was the excellent local red wine sold exclusively through this venue!!

Set in a restored Tuff-stone building, Hydria Rooms is a guest house located in Matera, 60 metres from Sasso Barisano. Free WiFi is offered throughout the property. The room is beautiful and the location is truly amazing, just a few steps from the Sassi. The sauna and bath were wonderful after a rainy day. The lady at the reception was really helpful. I recommend bringing hiking shoes and exploring the Murgia. The apartment is located on a street that is within a ZTL, but just before that we managed to park our car on the street for €14 for 3 days. Also, don’t miss trying the traditional fried peppers – it’s an absolute must!
