Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). We stayed at a separate room which is not inside the main building. The room was spacious and had a private shower and bathroom. The main building of the guest house is very cosy and welcoming and the free dinner and breakfast are a great bonus. The washing machine and dryer were very fast and efficient.

Only a 5-minute drive from Miyajima Ferry Port with its free shuttle, beautiful ocean views can be enjoyed from Miyajima Seaside Hotel. This hotel is a great budget option for a ryokan experience! I paid much less than what is quoted at other places but it definitely felt like a luxury experience. The traditional Japanese room is huge! And the dinner plus breakfast were very delicious and extravagant. I struggled to finish the kaiseki dinner. The staff were so helpful and polite. They even brought all my luggage to the room from the ferry terminal. The shuttle makes everything very convenient as it is farther from the main sights. The onsen was clean and very comfortable.

Jukeiso features Japanese-style rooms overlooking the majestic entrance gate (Torii) of Itsukushima-jinja Shrine, only a 5-minute walk from the Unesco World Heritage Site itself. Beautiful location, wonderful experience, very friendly staff! Would highly recommend! (And they’ll pick you up at the port)

Just a 7-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Combining modern design with a homely decor, Kikunoya Hotel offers both Western and Japanese-style rooms. Cosy clean apartment. Helpful friendly staff. Delicious Japanese style breakfast. Relaxing onsen with inside and outside pools. Everything was perfect!

Offering sea views, Onomichi Guest House Miharashi-tei is an accommodation set in Onomichi, 70 metres from Senkoji Temple and 700 metres from Onomichi History Museum. This might have been one of the best places we stayed in Japan. The room was right above the cafè but very quiet and cute with an incredible view. The cafè downstairs was delightful and had a lovely view. The coffee and tea were incredible. You can even eat your own food there. All the bathrooms are shared but that's no problem at all. The price was fantastic for what we got. We also enjoyed talking to other guests. The view from the lookout above the shrine is also spectacular.

Oyado Tsukiusagi is set in Miyajima, 600 metres from Five Storey Pagoda, less than 1 km from Itsukushima Shrine, as well as a 15-minute walk from Daisho-in Temple. The host is beyond welcoming, such a lovely person. Answered all my questions with a smile.

Located right in front of Miyajima Aquarium and a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine's exit, Mizuhasou offers accommodations in a modern yet traditional décor. It was a great stay! The staff was kind and patiently pointed out to all the amenities like the bath, breakfast choice (western or japanese) or that they offer us pajamas and slippers. The bath was definetely a highlight of our stay and a surprise as we weren't expecting it. Futons were comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We have zero complains and would love to come back.

Located in the World Heritage Miyajima Island, Iwaso features Japanese-style accommodations with beautiful surrounding views. Fantastic location right next to the Rooney to get up the top of Mt Misen. Very authentic and truely lovely. We stayed for one night and throughly enjoyed the island

ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA is located in Miyajima’s Omotesando Avenue, a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shinto Shrine and Miyajima Pier. Wonderful rooms. Comfortable and clean. A lovely terrace to have drinks and look towards the famous gate. Staff were very helpful and exceptionally polite.

Onyado Nono Sakaiminato Natural Hot Spring is set in Sakaiminato, within 25 km of Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum and 29 km of Lake Shinji. 1. no shoes allowed in the hotel 2. very clean and tidy 3. 24-hour onsen 4. free provides ice-cream, yogurt, and soup noodles after hot springs
