The private onsen was perfect, they even have a web you can check through your phone to check availability. Staff can speak english and its really quiet. Perfect for resting.

Boasting hot spring baths in a spectacular outdoor setting by Takaragawa River, Japanese-style hotel Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is a 10-minute drive from Hodaigi Ski Resort. The place was magical. The onsen is amazing, the room was traditional japaneese. While you don't have the luxury of a 4-5 star hotel, you don't really need it. The rooms are comfortable, sleeping in old japaneese fashion on a mattress on the floor is waaay more comfortable than expected (good for bad back). Big plus for the mixed ryokan, can join there with your partner. And the food was just super. Not to mention the staff, they were very nice. Highly recommend it!

Hanaingen is an adult only accommodation situated in Kusatsu, just a 2-minute walk from Yubatake, or the hot water field in Kusatsu Onsen. The staff were very nice and helpful

Set in Shibukawa and only 46 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park, Omori offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. This place was an unexpected surprise. From the get go, the service was absolutely amazing. The room was spacious, decent view, great air conditioning, plenty of outlets as well to charge devices, and they even brought up our luggage that we had delivered from Sapporo for us. We were able to also book a private open air onsen as well with the option of sake. It was an amazing experience. We choose to have dinner from the hotel and it was amazing to. It did not disappoint. This was my first Ryokan onsen experience and I loved it.

Just a 3-minute walk from the famous Yubatake Hot Spring, Kane Midori offers massage services and its own hot-spring baths. The Japanese rooms have futon beds and a Western bathroom. Kanemidori is a beautiful ryokan just steps away from Yubatake and central Kusatsu. The room was enormous and absolutely stunning traditional tatami room. We got to enjoy new yukata designs each day of our trip, and the quiet and beautiful baths were almost always empty when we visited them. The staff didn't speak much English, but we were able to communicate everything necessary. They even came to the car when we arrived and took our bags! It was a lovely and relaxing experience.

Right next to the hot springs park and situated on a slope overlooking the mountains and town. We were a bit afraid to book because the photos of the rooms didn’t look too appealing, but in reality both the rooms and the hotel itself is beautiful, modernised and comfortable inside, while maintaining a lovely period vibe! The public bath was also nice, with a relaxing outdoor pool.

Perfect location, clean rooms, nice private onsens on the first floor. There's a cozy common space with tables and chairs, where you can have dinner by the fireplace. If you come here in winter - there are ACs and electric blankets to keep you warm at night. Everything was great about our stay.
