Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). Highlight of my trip, I wish we stayed 2 nights not just one. Great hospitality and wonderful facilities. Personally the futon was very comfortable since I prefer harder matress. A 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal, very close to the main attractions.

Jukeiso features Japanese-style rooms overlooking the majestic entrance gate (Torii) of Itsukushima-jinja Shrine, only a 5-minute walk from the Unesco World Heritage Site itself. Traditional Japanese experience with meals and private onsen. They also offer transport service from the ferry.

Just a 7-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Combining modern design with a homely decor, Kikunoya Hotel offers both Western and Japanese-style rooms. Fantastic food, lovely facilities, and super close to the hiking trail up to Mount Misen.

Onomichi Guest House Miharashi-tei ligger i Onomichi, 0 minutters gange fra Senkoji-tempelet, og har en bar. Her bor du med utsikt over byen. We stayed in the large family room upstairs and the view was amazing. This place made us feel like we were really in Japan with tatami floors and shoji screens in a beautifully restored traditional house. The story of the restoration project is interesting too. We walked up to the temple and the observatory at the top of the hill, and explored the surrounding streets before going biking on the islands the next day. Wished we had stayed two nights instead of only one. The futons were comfortable and warm. Other guests were considerate and quiet. Facilities were clean.

Located right in front of Miyajima Aquarium and a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine's exit, Mizuhasou offers accommodations in a modern yet traditional décor. It was a great stay! The staff was kind and patiently pointed out to all the amenities like the bath, breakfast choice (western or japanese) or that they offer us pajamas and slippers. The bath was definetely a highlight of our stay and a surprise as we weren't expecting it. Futons were comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We have zero complains and would love to come back.

Located in the World Heritage Miyajima Island, Iwaso features Japanese-style accommodations with beautiful surrounding views. Beautiful property. We had the half board with multi course traditional Japanese meals. They were amazing but yes, pricey. We wore our traditional Japanese. The hubby used the Osen and said it was fabulous. I didn’t go as I stayed with our 10 year old daughter who didn’t feel comfortable doing it. The staff was helpful and courteous. We left our bags with them on the day of checkout and they brought us to the ferry around 14.30.

ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA is located in Miyajima’s Omotesando Avenue, a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shinto Shrine and Miyajima Pier. Oh, Iroha…. Where do I begin? We were greeted by the friendliest and kindest front desk staff, both of the ladies were extremely welcoming and helpful. They asked about our dinner plans and book us a table at a wonderful place. As this was the first place in Japan with Onsen that we stayed at we were explained how to prepare and what are the rules. We went there in the late evening, it was empty and from the outside bath you could enjoy the amazing views of Itsikushima Shrine, just magical! Also we were given a free upgrade to queen suite which we did not expect at all and it was incredible. I could not recommend enough this place and staying at Miyajima Island over night in general. You can’t fully experience the unique charm and beauty of this place by coming just for few hours. Come for a night or two and stay at Iroha, I can guarantee it will be a highlight of your Japan trip! Thank you for having us!
