Situated along Tanohara River and surrounded by tranquil nature in Kurokawa Onsen hot spring area, Oku no Yu Ryokan offers charming Japanese-style accommodation and various hot spring baths. Service was flawless, the food was perfect, and the baths were great. My room was good for my needs, it was quiet, and the waterfall and rivers outside was a great source of white noise. Highly recommend for a peaceful stay!

The food is delicious. The Kaiseki is nothing fancy, but it is all very well prepared and a great experience. There are various onsens, most of them we could enjoy almost by ourselves. Definitely recommend Okyakuya to anyone visiting Japan!

Boasting spacious indoor and outdoor hot spring baths surrounded by lush greenery, Ryokan Wakaba provides Japanese-style accommodation in the peaceful mountain area. Loved my japanese style room, which was huge and had river and bamboo forest view. The staff was very friendly and even offered me a ride for the next day to the bus stop and the meals were just so delicious. Felt very relaxed after my stay!

We loved our stay there. Amazing location, such a tasty food , so peaceful, clean and beautiful, we felt so special spending time there. We rented the private bath and also used the shared baths and it was amazing experience. I would recommend it to everyone. Magical place with super sweet stuff. It exceeded our expectations. We will definitely come back.

Boasting individual Japanese-style houses and maisonettes with a private open-air hot spring bath, Ryokan Kono-Yu is nestled in lush greenery in the peaceful Kurokawa hot spring area. We were blown away by this wonderful accommodation and staff. The team who looked after us were the warmest, most helpful people and the ryokan itself was simply stunning. Having our own private Onsen was amazing and the tatami room was very stylish . Dinner and breakfast were delicious too - we can’t wait to stay again in the future.

Kumamoto Hotel Castle is a 7-minute walk from the famous Kumamoto Castle. It features 4 restaurants and modern guest rooms with free WiFi. The hotel is in a great location, close to the main shopping malls and quickly reachable from the Kumamoto station. The hotel staff was very helpful, spoke excellent English and were very welcoming. We shipped our luggage from one hotel to another and usually we have to fill in the paperwork ourselves but they did it for us and we’re very gentle with the suitcases- little details make such a difference! Their inside restaurant and bar are also worth a try.
