Everything was absolutely perfect. The staff is very nice, the food is great, the room is big and perfectly equipped.

Set in Minamioguni in the Kumamoto region, Ryokan Yamanoyu offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Meals were exceptional especially bbq dinner. Private family outdoor onsen was great experience we used 3 times over 2-nights stay

Located in Chikushino, 500 metres from Buso-ji Temple, Daimaru Besso has a number of amenities including a bar and free WiFi. This is a 150 year old property which is lovingly preserved and maintained, with its own Japanese garden and onsen. Despite being near a main road, it is serene and private, you will hardly meet other guests except in passing (even in the onsen). The room was much larger than I expected, decorated in traditional style. The service is wonderful, including an elegant lounge with free coffee and green tea. Meals are delicious and beautifully presented; dinner is in a private room, and breakfast served in your own room.

Kannawaen is an entirely non-smoking accommodation that features a garden, terrace and bar in Beppu. 100 metres from Hells of Beppu, the property is also 500 metres away from Jigokumushikobo Kannawa. Top notch. Half board meals incredible. In room hot spring bath was wonderful. Excellent service

Built in 1722, Okyakuya is situated in the historical district of Kurokawa Onsen district. Located only 100 metres from Kurokawa Onsen, Free WiFi is provided and private parking is available on site. We had an amazing stay at Okyakuya and would absolutely love to return. The location could not be better, right in the heart of Kurokawa Onsen. When we visited, the entire town was beautifully lit up for the holidays, and it made evening walks feel incredibly special and romantic. The staff were truly wonderful. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and their English was very good, which made conversations easy and enjoyable. The service went above and beyond. We loved being able to chat with the staff, and one of the highlights was running into them while walking around the holiday lights. They immediately offered to take a photo of us, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture that really stayed with us. The food was also excellent. Every meal was delicious, and we really appreciated that each one was different, making every dining experience something to look forward to. Overall, Okyakuya made our time in Kurokawa Onsen incredibly memorable, and we would happily recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional hospitality and a truly special stay.

Yunohira Kamiyanagiya offers a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 40 km of Crasus Dome Oita and 16 km of Kinrinko Lake. Best experience of our lives! The food was the best food we have ever eaten and the staff and service were superb! I can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you’re in Japan and want a truly authentic experience stay here.

Set in Yufu, 48 km from Crasus Dome Oita, Ryokan Yamanami features accommodation with a sauna, a hot spring bath and spa facilities. Beautiful Ryokan in the mountains, away from the crowded center of Yufuin but still just few minutes walking from there. We booked the annex accommodation with private onsen, the room was amazing and just 30 sec from main building for even more intimacy. The staff is super kind and full of attention for us, they delivered my luggage to my room once it has been delivered and they were always helpful with anything and always smiling. They even offered to take a picture of us at the check out before we left on their beautiful terrace. The restaurant where we have the breakfast is small so you can enjoy quietly your delicious traditional Japanese breakfast, we had 2 different breakfast for for 2 days we stayed. And aln of it just in front of the wonderful view of Yufu mountain.
