Surrounded by lush greenery, Mampei Hotel offers free WiFi and free on-site private parking. JR Karuizawa Station is a 10-minute drive from this non-smoking accommodation. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming. They always offered help whenever needed.

Offering a barbecue and ski storage space, AIBIYA is located in Yamanouchi in the Nagano Region, 4.1 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park. Room was big enough and clean, same situation with bathrooms. But, what is most important at this place is an extraordinary hospitality! Seongmi and Yoshi are amazing hosts. I was feel like home here :)

Located in Matsumoto in the Nagano region with Mt.Norikura Ski Resort nearby, Raicho Onsen Inn provides accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. This inn is located in a scenic area with access to wonderful hiking trails and outdoor activities right from the doorstep. At the staff's recommendation, I walked to a beautiful waterfall and pond close by. The birch forests in the area and views of Mount Norikura are absolutely stunning. We found the area very peaceful with few people around when we visited mid-week. We enjoyed our time soaking in the onsen baths. As my partner has a couple of small tattoos, it was great that they were private and therefore tattoo-friendly. The outdoor bath was a particular treat. The staff were very friendly with great recommendations for the surrounding area. Our room was very large and the futons comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer than just one night.

Located in Karuizawa, Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton is situated a 6-minute walk from Kyu Karuizawa Ginza Dori shopping street. Location is superb. The shuttle was really helpful. The service is impeccable. Breakfast was amazing.

Set in Chino, ノマの森 Nomanomori B&B offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a bar. The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. The room is very clean and comfortable. The hosts are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is the best!

Oshi Ryokan is located in Nagano, 20 km from Zenkoji Temple, 22 km from Nagano Station, as well as 32 km from Suzaka City Zoo. Everything’s so perfect ~~ The owner Oshi San was super helpful. The room is spacious and with view overlooking a garden. It’s so lovely with a green view in summer. It’s a quiet location so I sleep pretty well. And the meals prepared are Fresh and tasty. Highly recommended. [heart].

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. Great place as advertised with family service. The breakfast is excellent. Quiet. Bus stop next to the accommodation: quite convenient to reach Shiga Kogen ski slopes. We hope to come back again!

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. Wow, wow, wow! This ryokan truly exceeded our expectations! It was exceptionally clean. The room and futon beds were comfortable with plenty of hot water in the shower. Wifi worked very well as well. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. We looked forward to dinner every night as the food was excellent and afterwards enjoyed a dip in the ryokan’s onsen! Amazing stay!

A small 6-room inn with Ryokan meals and cosy interiors, Yasuragi is just a few minutes drive to Jigokudani Monkey Park and an 8-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station. Hot-spring baths are featured.... One of the best hotel experiences ever. It was very clean and comfortable. We had the breakfast, which I highly recommend. The owners were kind enough to offer a vegetarian version for our friends that don’t eat meat. All in all, the owners were really welcoming and the hotel was exceptional. Don’t miss the onsen!
