Offering a barbecue and ski storage space, AIBIYA is located in Yamanouchi in the Nagano Region, 4.1 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park. Everything! Aibiya guesthouse was the break in the mountains I needed after travelling around for a few weeks. The house, the amenities, the breakfast, Yoshi and Seongmi are the sweetest people and always there to help you or give you advices.

Located in Matsumoto in the Nagano region with Mt.Norikura Ski Resort nearby, Raicho Onsen Inn provides accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Nice onsen and japanese style rooms. Friendly staff. I loved staying here.

Located in Karuizawa, Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton is situated a 6-minute walk from Kyu Karuizawa Ginza Dori shopping street. The service was excellent and the staff went out of their way to assist us and make our stay as comfortable as possible. Despite being an upmarket hotel, they were still very accommodating and welcoming of our toddler and there were extra amenities for her which were appreciated. The hotel is situated in the older part of Karuizawa and is within walking distance of many beautiful attractions and restaurants/cafes. The breakfast is also excellent.

Set in Chino, ノマの森 Nomanomori B&B offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a bar. The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. We had our wedding at Stone Church, and since all the hotels near the church were fully booked, we chose to stay at the nearby B&B Hyochoan. Our entire stay was filled with warmth and love. We arrived late at around 9 p.m. because we took the wrong Shinkansen, but the hosts were waiting for us and even came out to greet us and help with our luggage from the taxi. Inside, hot tea was waiting for us, and they kindly explained the room’s features. In the morning, we were treated to a delicious and thoughtfully prepared Japanese breakfast. When we were about to leave, we mentioned we were there for our wedding, and the elderly hosts surprised us with a gift of a bottle of wine! Their invoice was also thoughtfully printed, including a photo of us taken during our stay and some local sightseeing recommendations. The house was very clean, with a spacious backyard full of greenery, which was an unexpected delight! For the area, the price was the most reasonable and fair. Highly recommended!

Oshi Ryokan is located in Nagano, 20 km from Zenkoji Temple, 22 km from Nagano Station, as well as 32 km from Suzaka City Zoo. Incredible hospitality and overall a very authentic place to stay in Togakushi. Would love to visit again!

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. Very spacious and beautifully presented rooms in traditional Ryokan in the middle of Shibu Onsen. Comfortable Tatami beds. Great to have private toilet. The onsite outdoor private Onsen and inside (male/female) onsens were fantastic. Loved the supplied Yukata and Geta for the Onsens. Key supplied for all public onsens through town. The owners were so helpful and kind, driving us to and from snow monkeys and to Yudanaka station for our train. Enjoyed the traditional home made breakfast delivered to our room at reasonable price in beautiful bento box.

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. Multi course exceptional meals including local seasonal produce - such a special experience. Onsen (inside and outside on rooftop), shower area and products were all high quality, traditional Japanese style rooms were beautiful, location in the town is great and fact saying here provided access to the 9 public onsens was fab. Shuttle bus was such a treat after we had gotten used to walking everywhere alongside buses/ train. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel! Certainly a highlight of the trip and can’t fault it.

Located in Nozawa Onsen in the Nagano region, Peanuts House Kumakuma provides accommodation with free private parking. Very cosy place, perfect for solo travellers. I was lucky to get a last min booking. About 7 min walk to main town area, 12 min walk to ski slope.
