Surrounded by lush greenery, Mampei Hotel offers free WiFi and free on-site private parking. JR Karuizawa Station is a 10-minute drive from this non-smoking accommodation. Excellent service from start to finish. The staff were helpful and informative and always poised to support and help out . We wanted for nothing and the vibe of the hotel really helped immerse you in the local area. A great experience.

Offering a barbecue and ski storage space, AIBIYA is located in Yamanouchi in the Nagano Region, 4.1 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park. Amazing hosts - very polite, sociable, always welcoming and fully involved in making your stay as comfortable and interesting as possible! We've got a lot of useful advice especially regarding our further visit to Tokyo and shopping there! GoHemp is great! :) Great hotel location - everything is in 5min walk distance - shops, combini, train station, tasty restaurants! Everything was excellent - the room, the check-in process, all the facilities. We will absolutely stay at this place more and more times during our next visits.

Located in Matsumoto in the Nagano region with Mt.Norikura Ski Resort nearby, Raicho Onsen Inn provides accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Raicho Onsen Inn was our absolute favorite place to stay out of our 2 weeks traveling Japan. It had a friendly and open atmosphere - a great place to meet japanese and international travelers alike. It's a 5 minute walk to the Norikura Tourist Center which is a great place to rent e-bikes to explore the area (we biked Mt.Norikura along the Norikura Echo Line which begins at the tourist center), or grab a drink at their cafe. They also have an onigiri machine, but they run out pretty quickly. There's a yummy restaurant located inside an onsen which is right across the tourist center. There aren't too many walkable options for food, especially if you're a vegetarian, but Raicho Onsen Inn does a beautiful job of letting you know exactly what your options are with a collection of restaurants on their bulletin board. They even have a wonderfully designed large kitchen with inexpensive basic food items available for purchase such as pasta, tuna, canned corn, instant curries, some fresh veggies, etc. You can also purchase breakfast from them which is a bagel with different filling choices. Their computer lounge area is a great place to relax and hang out. We especially enjoyed the onsens, both indoor and outdoor, which are booked privately through a schedule on the wall. The inn is located next to many beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls (the entrance for one was literally 2 minute walk away!) We were only planning on staying 1 night, but my partner and I ended up staying for 3 nights.

Set in Chino, ノマの森 Nomanomori B&B offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a bar. The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. The room is very clean and comfortable. The hosts are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is the best!

Oshi Ryokan is located in Nagano, 20 km from Zenkoji Temple, 22 km from Nagano Station, as well as 32 km from Suzaka City Zoo. very nice owner , very good food

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. Very spacious and beautifully presented rooms in traditional Ryokan in the middle of Shibu Onsen. Comfortable Tatami beds. Great to have private toilet. The onsite outdoor private Onsen and inside (male/female) onsens were fantastic. Loved the supplied Yukata and Geta for the Onsens. Key supplied for all public onsens through town. The owners were so helpful and kind, driving us to and from snow monkeys and to Yudanaka station for our train. Enjoyed the traditional home made breakfast delivered to our room at reasonable price in beautiful bento box.

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. Fantastic staff, great central location. They offer a shuttle ride to and from the train station which was awesome to have! Very clean ryokan, great amenities. The breakfast and dinner were very tasty! There are a lot of different public onsens that you have available to you as a guest. They also will drive you to the Snow Monkey Park entrance if you arrive at the appropriate time. The do not offer pick-up from the park, but the hotel is 15 or so minute walk from the park entrance. I actually enjoyed walking back (downhill too!), it was nice to see the town. You will not regret coming here! It was a wonderful and relaxing experience! Tips for Snow Monkey Park. Go later in the day or very early to avoid a lot of people. It also depends on the time of year for bigger or smaller crowds. I I came in early November and went in the late afternoon and there were many monkeys, and not a lot of people. However, I imagine can get quite busy during the winter time. They don't seem bothered by the people. I was even lucky to see on go in the hot spring which I don't know if that's normal for early November. Tips for public onsen: In the public onsen that I went to there wasn't a cleaning station, so instead you take the bucket and pour the onsen spring water all over the body upon entering. It's VERY hot, again the one I went to, which I believe is one of the bigger public onsens. I enjoy hot water, but this was so hot, I couldn't stay in it for more than 10 minutes.
