We had a wonderful stay at Mampei Hotel, a beautiful hotel with a long and rich history. The staff were exceptionally helpful, especially Mr. Komiyama (if I got his name right), who went out of his way to assist us. The atmosphere was warm and peaceful, and it was special to stay at a place once frequented by John Lennon. Our room was elegant and comfortable, with a private onsen bath, and breakfast was thoughtfully prepared to accommodate our dietary restrictions. The scenic drive in and proximity to the old Ginza street added to the charm. A truly memorable and happy experience.

Amazing hosts - very polite, sociable, always welcoming and fully involved in making your stay as comfortable and interesting as possible! We've got a lot of useful advice especially regarding our further visit to Tokyo and shopping there! GoHemp is great! :) Great hotel location - everything is in 5min walk distance - shops, combini, train station, tasty restaurants! Everything was excellent - the room, the check-in process, all the facilities. We will absolutely stay at this place more and more times during our next visits.

Located in Karuizawa, Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton is situated a 6-minute walk from Kyu Karuizawa Ginza Dori shopping street. Service was excellent, shuttle service was amazing, breakfast was delicious and rooms were very comfortable. Love the coffee machine. Staff were always ready to assist us.

Set in Chino, ノマの森 Nomanomori B&B offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a bar. The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. We had our wedding at Stone Church, and since all the hotels near the church were fully booked, we chose to stay at the nearby B&B Hyochoan. Our entire stay was filled with warmth and love. We arrived late at around 9 p.m. because we took the wrong Shinkansen, but the hosts were waiting for us and even came out to greet us and help with our luggage from the taxi. Inside, hot tea was waiting for us, and they kindly explained the room’s features. In the morning, we were treated to a delicious and thoughtfully prepared Japanese breakfast. When we were about to leave, we mentioned we were there for our wedding, and the elderly hosts surprised us with a gift of a bottle of wine! Their invoice was also thoughtfully printed, including a photo of us taken during our stay and some local sightseeing recommendations. The house was very clean, with a spacious backyard full of greenery, which was an unexpected delight! For the area, the price was the most reasonable and fair. Highly recommended!

Oshi Ryokan is located in Nagano, 20 km from Zenkoji Temple, 22 km from Nagano Station, as well as 32 km from Suzaka City Zoo. What an experience! Immediately upon arrival we were greeted by the most lovely hosts and lead to our comfortable traditional room with a view to the garden and mountains around. The hosts, Mr Hidenori and his wife were exceptionally warm, friendly and welcoming, and their dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious with a variety of beautifully presented local traditional cousine, leaving our bellies full and hearts warmed up from their hospitality. Mr Hidenori then drove us to the northernmost shrine of the five shrines where we enjoyed a day of making our way down the track, checking out the ninja museum and the various shrines along the way ending with a delicious meal of soba noodles as he recommended to us. Undoubtedly the highlight of our trip so far, and we will most certainly come back in the near future.

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. The onsen and the room was amazing!!!

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. The staff were super polite and helpfull with everything we needed. The location is great and perfect to do The Sotoyu (The 9 onsen in the town - you can buy The towel in the hotel (500 ¥) to get the stamps all the way). The meals were fantastic. A lot of variety the breakfast and dinner, all japanese style. The room was great, with private toilet and bath, and there's a onsen at the hotel on the rooftop (6th floor) with a outside onsen as well. We enjoyed at night in winter, it was magical. There is a free pick-up from the Yudanaka station and free transfer back as well. You can wear yukata and geta all the time and the city's vibe is awesome.Please, explore the local food and family restaurants. I really recomend the ryokan and hope to come back again anytime

Located in Nozawa Onsen in the Nagano region, Peanuts House Kumakuma provides accommodation with free private parking. We walked 15 minutes to get to the slopes every morning, it’s right next to the bus stop and close enough to the heart of town without being disturbed by lots of noise or foot traffic. Very peaceful. The house itself is spacious so while it was shared bathrooms, I rarely saw anyone in there at the same time as me and I loved the onsen/hot tub in the basement for washing! It’s a great value for money and was much more comfortable and centrally located than I expected given the price and the shared bathroom. Kimmie, the owner, even made us apple pie one day. Highly recommend!
