I honestly cannot say enough good things about this family and my entire stay. The owner made everything unbelievably easy. He arranged a my pick up from a very early morning flight from Colombo, set up a safari for me literally an hour after I arrived, and even organized my ride to my next stop in Kandy. He was so kind and understanding right from the start. I hadn’t exchanged money yet and he didn’t want to miss the chance to go on the safari, so he lent me the money until I could pay him back. Gestures like that are so rare and genuinely meant a lot!!! Safari at minneriya national park was one of the greatest experiences. Such a sweet and kind guide (set-up by the owner so have him do it for you!!) picked up/dropped off at the hotel. We saw over 40 elephants. It was spectacular and so much fun! Breakfast was fantastic, and they were incredibly accommodating with food in general. When I arrived, I was welcomed with a cup of tea and some snacks, and every breakfast afterward was delicious. It was also lovely chatting with the owner’s wife—she’s such a joyful, warm person and has the most beautiful garden. The room itself was good it had everything you need. It had a mini fridge stocked with water and pop at very affordable prices, which was super convenient. The walk to Sigiriya Rock was very close I think it took me 30 minutes to the entrance and 15 from the exit. You can take a tuk-tuk if you want, the owner will book it. The main street is about a 10 minute walk. Just a heads-up that it gets quite dark at night, so I have a flash light ready for when you go to dinner. I also want to give a huge shoutout to the owner’s son, who drove me twice. He was so sweet, helpful, and full of great information. Something he said really stuck with me—he mentioned that for them, it’s not about the money, it’s about the people. And you can truly feel that in the way they treat you. People first, always.

The bed is big and comfortable, the air con is good and the shower had great water pressure. The location is great for getting around Sigiriya, and everyone working here was lovely.

Room was clean and spacious. They asked about our favourite breakfast foods and tried to make them all! The nicest part was that they let us stay longer in our room because we had a late flight the next day. We really appreciated all of the wonderful hospitality.

The pictures of Shady Mango really don’t do it justice; it’s spacious, clean and modern accommodation with everything you could need in a great location. Very close to bars, restaurants and everything you could want to see in the village. The hosts are also so kind and helpful - they even picked me up the insect repellent I’d been looking for and couldn’t find.

From the moment we arrived, my girlfriend and I were welcomed with a warmth and hospitality that could only come from its owner, who is undoubtedly one of the kindest and sweetest people we’ve ever met. The hotel is the perfect place to disconnect from the technological world and reconnect with nature. Surrounded by tranquility, this little paradise has all the necessary amenities to relax and enjoy the beauty of Sigiriya. Every detail of the place is designed to provide a unique experience, and waking up every morning to a stunning view of Pidurangala Mountain while having breakfast is simply priceless. I especially want to thank the owner for her attention and care in preparing my meals, knowing that I am allergic to sesame. Her thoughtfulness and effort to ensure I could eat safely is something I deeply appreciate. That level of detail and kindness made our stay even more special. Located near to the main road, beautiful views. Staff is amazing, they really made our stay comfortable. Staff at restaurant were great and customised orders for us.
