The owners went out of their way to be helpful and efficient - very nice people. We loved the pool and surrounding decks and the view of the river Douro was spectacular. A very nice breakfast was offered in a very pleasant room with the same wonderful view.

Nestled along the Douro River, Douro Hotel Porto Antigo. is housed in a historic building. It features an outdoor swimming pool, in-house massages and a restaurant serving European dishes. The location of this hotel is spectacular, right between the historical River Douro and River Bestança, close to the incredible N-222 road. Had an amazing view from my room during my stay. As it was off season, the hotel was pretty empty, which was not a problem as I was able to get great breakfast and dinner in the property. There's free parking right next to the hotel. There are many small towns nearby to get supplies if needed and great opportunities for hiking and exploring.

Quinta de S.Bernardo - Winery & Farmhouse is offering accommodation in Mesão Frio. Among the various facilities are a garden, a terrace, as well as a shared lounge. This is probably the best positioned hotel in all of Douro valley as you are down by the river. It's beautiful and peaceful and you're surrounded by nature. The hotel staff is super helpful and professional. The hotel offers activities like kayaking and stand up paddling. We stayed in the villa which had incredible views and slept so well. I'm recommending this hotel to all of my friends!

It’s a 800 year old building but in pristine and very chique furniture & design. It has recent expansion and it is top quality walls, bedroom & bathroom. The view from rooms, lounge, patio, pool, and dining room is pristine like a painting. The owner and those that work there are incredibly friendly, kind & accommodating. We felt like they were family’s The dinner, wine & desserts were top of the line. I highly recommend the place and if ever visiting Portugal, will stay again!
