Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Casa das Proteas is located at Estrada das Covas nº8, São Jorge, Madeira Island, 50 km from Funchal. The location is excellent as a starting point for several hikes. We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 20th anniversary, but didn’t want to stay in a big, impersonal hotel, and it was just what we had hoped. The hotel combines traditional with beautiful modern spaces, wonderful gardens and lots of secluded spots for guests to enjoy the peace and breathtaking views. Breakfast was delicious with hot options cooked to order, and the dining room staff were friendly and efficient. We had dinner at the hotel twice in the week we stayed and the food was of a high standard; eating out on the terrace was a highlight. We loved coming back to the pool after hiking or exploring the island, or to enjoy a drink on our balcony overlooking the ocean. Ponta do Sol itself is more peaceful than many other places on the south coast but has several good places to eat and a popular pub, so most evenings we were able to eat in the village without having to drive. The lifts were all working properly. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring all parts of the island as it is very close to the road which runs up to the mountains and the north coast. Having an indoor pool and sauna to use when the weather was chilly was a bonus. We had an amazing holiday and will be back to explore more of this wonderful island, a week wasn’t nearly enough!

Modern hotel close to the beach with natural pools. Spacious room with scenic ocean view. Room is equipped with everything you need including bath robes and amenities, hq espresso machine, king size bed. We got a complementary bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival and 10% discount for dinner at the restaurant. Breakfast was really great with wide choice of foods and drinks

Naktsmītne Quinta Paços do Lago atrodas Funšalā, 17 km attālumā no Funšalas jahtu piestātnes. Great location with amazing view. Very spacious room with tea & coffee facilities and a fridge. The host family accommodated all guests like family members. Provided with advices what to visit in accordance with weather and wishes. There is also respect of privacy. Breakfast was always freshly cooked. Fresh fruits just picked from gardens. The place easy to find following google map. The host also helps advising how to get there. Good restaurant with local good food a few steps away. Nice swimming pool, not heated but nice to get fresh after adventured day. When I back to Madeira I will not look for other place. Thank you for making my holiday perfect.

Set in Ponta do Pargo, in the west side of Madeira Islands Region, 35 km from Funchal, Casas da Levada boasts an outdoor pool and views of the sea. Free private parking is available on site. We loved it here. It was beautiful.. the room was spacious, clean, modern. The items available for breakfast were perfect.. fresh bread and eggs. Kitchen had everything we needed. The property is gorgeous, along with the view. Close enough to the highway to get around the island. Only wish it had been a bit warmer to swim in the pool!

Offering an outdoor pool and spa centre, Castanheiro Boutique Hotel is set in Funchal, 500 metres from Marina do Funchal. Excellent service from the moment you enter the hotel. All staff extremely friendly. Nice rooftop pool and bar/lounge. Rooms have everything you need. Left before breakfast but got a breakfast box that had more food than I could eat. Free spa admission with a steam room and Turkish bath complimentary. Nice restaurant and ambiance throughout the hotel. Highly recommended.
