Comfortable Accommodations: Onsen Guest House Tsutaya in Hakone offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and mountain views. This guest house is just excellent! The lounge easily beats any other hotel/hostel common area I've been to. The kitchen has any appliance you could imagine (including everything needed for a pour over coffee) and it even has two kotatsus to get cozy under! The onsen is absolutely beautiful and the adjacent dressing room area is supplied well. The women's dorm was clean and your sleeping area is bigger than it looks, it's almost like a tiny room, and feels very private. The location is beautiful, if not a little out of the way, but nothing a short bus ride can't fix. Will 100% be back for the lounge area and the onsen alone!

The breakfast was one of the best ones I ever had! Food was so good, the hotel is very clean and organized. The onsen area is very nice with Hakone milky waters. And specially, their staff is amazing! The girls at the reception were so kind and friendly! Really good service.

Featuring a garden, Hakone Onsen Yuyado Yamanoshou is set in Hakone, 200 metres from Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands. This 3-star ryokan features free WiFi. The breakfast and dinner spreads were exquisite. I was very impressed with their chef. The atmosphere of the ryokan gave you a sense of being tucked away in the woods and back in time. The staff were courteous and warm, ever so accommodating. A most beautiful experience and wonderful for the body and soul. I would most definitely love to return in future.

The staff were very friendly and ready to help with recommendations for activities and transport.

Featuring a terrace with views of Lake Ashi, Hakone・Ashinoko Hanaori offers a soothing hot spring bath and sauna. The property is situated a 2-minute walk from Togendai Station on Hakone Ropeway. Perfect location next to the ropeline station with beautiful nature views! Japanese cleanliness! Breakfast and dinner buffet really ritch and tasty, some western options as well for people with no preferance to Asian cuisine. Staff polite and helpful. Onsen area was really nice. The shop near the lobby was useful Beautiful footbath area, enjoying an icecream there was a highlight with the view while soaking my feet after breakfast was a highlight

Kusatsu Onsen Eidaya is located in Kusatsu. The property is a 10-minute walk from Kusatsu Yubatake and Kusatsu-Onsen Bus Terminal. Great location and charming accomodation and room. The onsens were some of the best I've ever used in Japan, the extra hot bath is especially great on a cold night. Staff were extremely helpful and showed me places worth visiting in Kusatsu. Would definitely stay again.

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. Basically everything was great.

Boasting rare nigori-yu milky water hot spring baths and , Mount View Hakone offers Japanese-style rooms and Japanese delicacies. All in all probably the best place we were in while traveling in Japan. You get yukata to walk around, very peaceful environment in the middle of the mountains, super friendly staff, room was spacious and clean. We had breakfast + dinner combo, which was typical Kaiseki with many different things. Just be prepared - it's A LOT of food (both). We skipped lunch while we stayed there. We tried one of the private onsen which was one of the best we tried. Room had a toilet but no bathroom, so you shower in the public onsen (typical of Ryokan w/ onsen for the unware). There's a Lawson super close, which is handy.

The breakfasts were excellent. The staff became like good friends. It felt like more than just a business; the place has heart. The baths were a wonderful option, relaxing and romantic. We absolutely love The Edo Sakura and will be staying there every time we visit Tokyo.

Boasting hot spring baths in a spectacular outdoor setting by Takaragawa River, Japanese-style hotel Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is a 10-minute drive from Hodaigi Ski Resort. If I could give ten stars I would! Our stay was amazing! Everything from staff to location to food was great! You can’t beat the location within mountains next to a beautiful river! Onsen facilities were gorgeous! Staff all spoke English perfectly and were extremely thoughtful and kind! They even called me on our way there to make sure we can make it to the dinner!
