The house is great and clean, it has been through renovation. Yuki-san is an excellent host. Traditional tatami room and comfy futon. Bathroom with laundry and dryer, onsen coming straight from the sink for a soothing bath. I will come here again when I am around Kirishima
Shinmeikan is a truly amazing ryokan/ onsen. The whole building just oozes authenticity. Great tatami style rooms overlooking the river, super friendly staff who will help you with all your needs. Great onsen baths, especially the cave bad is spectacular. Dinner and breakfast are equally high quality and display a variety of Japanese cuisine. Absolute perfect place if you want to experience traditional Japanese onsen style ryokan.
Very nice ryokan, located on a small street close to Gion subway station (2 minutes walk) and Hakata Station (10 minutes walk). Nerby many shops and restaurants, Big Buddha Temple and Kishida Shrine. Canal City Mall within walking distance. Personnel very nice and helpful. Good Japanese breakfast (misoshiru, rice, fish, natto, fried egg, salad and tea) - fresh, tasty and nutricious. 6 and 8 tatami rooms spacious and comfortable, futon beds very good and comfortable.
Within walking distance to the Jigoku Meguri tour and the infamous Hyotan Onsen. There’s a lift for upper floors and it even has a kitchenette. The tatami floor is very nice. The futon is comfortable. It was a short stay but it was nice. My room even has a balcony. Retro bathroom with no bidet.
We had an unforgettable family stay at a traditional Ryokan in Japan. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who made us feel right at home. The serene atmosphere of the Ryokan, with its beautiful tatami rooms , and peaceful environment, provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our family enjoyed the delicious kaiseki meals served in Ryokan and loved relaxing in the private onsen. We highly recommend this Ryokan to families looking for a unique and authentic Japanese experience.
Very spacious room with private onsen. Suitable for families as they have double bed and tatami area for futons setup. Separate toilet and bath, and even changing area attached to the private onsen, which feels like going to a sento. Onsen facing a small private garden, which will be nice if it wasnt too cold to soak.
Absolutely loved the place! It’s a hotel, but has a ryokan influence. The Japanese room was great, with enough room to move around and everything you need - water, tea, yukata, fridge etc The onsen and traditional breakfast were great, too. The location is perfect to visit many places of interest and the City View bus stop is just a couple of min walk from it. My favourite thing was staff: they are all professional, friendly, welcoming, super kind and helpful. If I come back I will definitely stay here again, no doubt!
This ryokan is beautifully decorated. I hired a yukata and took some gorgeous photos wearing it with the great bamboo decor. The room was very spacious for Japan and had a great view of the mountains from our balcony. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. The onsen followed by a massage was pure indulgence. The staff were very friendly and speaks English well. The ryokan was a short walking distance from the train station. We had a fabulous stay and highly recommended.
The cave onsen was a unique experience. They have private indoor n outdoor hot springs for booking. The English speaking female non-japanese staff was very friendly and pleasant. The ryokan also sent us to the bus stop when they learnt we are taking the bus to Hakata. Dinner was served around a fire place, giving a warm, fuzzy feel.
