This hotel is a great budget option for a ryokan experience! I paid much less than what is quoted at other places but it definitely felt like a luxury experience. The traditional Japanese room is huge! And the dinner plus breakfast were very delicious and extravagant. I struggled to finish the kaiseki dinner. The staff were so helpful and polite. They even brought all my luggage to the room from the ferry terminal. The shuttle makes everything very convenient as it is farther from the main sights. The onsen was clean and very comfortable.

The food was delicious, and having the option to book the private onsen every day. If you get a chance to book here do it, it's well worth it.

Just a 7-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Combining modern design with a homely decor, Kikunoya Hotel offers both Western and Japanese-style rooms. Very nice hotel. The room was nice and comfortable. Staff friendly, and the foot bath in front of the hotel was very welcome.

Took advantage of our massage chair in the room and the private hot bath room. Loved the rooftop deck with free snacks and beverages and gorgeous view of the famous floating tori gate. Had a delicious meal dressed in our yukata's provided by the hotel at their local restaurant. Made our stay in Miyajima perfect.

We feel like we got the best room in the entire place—it even had a small bar area and a cozy enclosed outdoor space. There were complimentary sweets and two types of tea (green and hojicha), both of which were absolutely delicious. The main tatami room with futons was spacious, and the futons themselves were incredibly comfortable to sleep on. The bathroom featured a large hinoki bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak. Breakfast was outstanding—probably the best we've had in Japan so far. For context, this is our third visit to Japan, and during this trip alone, we’ve stayed in five different hotels. What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service. When we needed to buy some medicine and found the local pharmacy already closed, the staff went above and beyond to help us. There’s a remarkable small-town warmth among the owners and staff—an atmosphere of mutual support that felt truly special.

The rooms are spacious and super clean and comfortable. They even provide free coffee in the lobby. Location is superb, just 3min walking from the ferry port (but still super quiet and peaceful)

We loved everything about the property. Our stay was everything we hoped for and more. The house was spotless, beautiful, and full of character. The location was perfect… peaceful and tucked away, but still only a short walk to the island’s main sights, shops, and ferries. It made exploring Miyajima incredibly easy. Communication with the host was clear, warm, and helpful throughout our stay. A map of the island with restaurants pinpointed including their business hours was provided to us at check in which was very thoughtful. We loved the quiet atmosphere, the beautiful interior, and the sense of calm the property offered. The beds were VERY comfortable! Plates, cups, cutlery, chopsticks, teapot plus tea and yummy coffee were all available! We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Miyajima.

Great location , close to town and the red Tori. Spacious comfortable room, view of the forest in the back, nice building with a restaurant downstairs with excellent food. Great breakfast. Kind and helpful staff. You can leave your bags if needed. We walked from the ferry, 20-30 mns. Great bath/tubs. Everything works well.

Das auf der zum Weltkulturerbe gehörenden Insel Miyajima gelegene Iwaso bietet Unterkünfte im japanischen Stil mit herrlichem Blick auf die Umgebung. Der Service war unglaublich gut! Ich bin selten solch herzlich empfangen worden. Alleine wegen des Personals wäre ich gern länger geblieben. Zudem war das Essen ausgezeichnet, das Zimmer schön sowie das Onsen.

The old lady at the front desk who checked us in and helped serve us dinner and breakfast was adorable. She spoke a little bit of English and seemed genuinely excited to see us when we would go in and out of the hotel and made us feel very welcome. 10/10 just for her. The location is directly across from the ferry terminal which is convenient for dropping bags off before exploring the island. I believe Yamaichi Bekkan is associated with the Yamaichi Honten restaurant on the other side of Lawson (Bekkan = "Annex" while Honten = "Main shop") so the dinner and breakfast were surprisingly good. Basically the same food as the restaurant. It's great to walk around the island after the crowds have gone for the day.
