Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. This was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had! It feels like you’re staying in the temple, the staff are amazing, & the rooms are traditional but very comfortable. I can’t wait to come back!

The staff members are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I greatly enjoyed the breakfast and dinner, which were delicious, and the welcoming nature of the hosts.

We couldn't thank more Maki and her mom for showing us the traditional Japanese hospitality. Food and onsen are great!!!

The town is charming, the staff was amazing and helped with everything, and the hotel was luxurious. We truly enjoyed our stay and the warm hospitality!

We had a lounge, bedroom, beautiful private Onsen. The setting is spectacular and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. He speaks fairly good English and is happy to pick you up and drop you off. The food was amazing - authentic, delicious, bountiful.

The staff was very helpful, and the facility was very welcoming and clean, with all the comforts of Japanese tradition.
