Marumo Ryokan is an authentic Japanese ryokan and is hands down the best we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, it is impeccably clean, and the meals are a delicious traditional feast. The hosts are very accommodating and thoughtful. We took the train to Omi-Iwazu and then rode back to Omi-Takashima, where we rented bikes to visit the Shirahige shrine. We also went to Makino to spend some time at the beach. Our entire group of five wished we had planned to stay for 2 or 3 nights instead of one. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the rest of our trip and we would hands down all choose to stay there again!

Biwako Hanakaido beschikt over warmwaterbronnen binnen en buiten, 3 eetgelegenheden en kamers met een balkon en uitzicht op het meer van Biwako. Correct en vriendelijk personeel. We hebben van uitgebreid diner en ontbijt genoten. Het was rustig in de kamer. Voor zeer redelijk bedrag kan je ook van een privé onsen genieten.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. I liked how friendly the staff was and how many things there were to do at the facility! We did onsen (in our room and the public onsen), walked around the grounds, did karaoke, and enjoyed the multi course dinner!

Yumotokan is aantrekkelijk gelegen in de wijk Ogoto Onsen in Otsu, en bevindt zich op 16 km van Enryaku-ji-tempel, 17 km van Hiei-berg en 19 km van Shorenin-tempel. It was a great experience, the room was nice and clean, the meals were great, the staff were very friendly and professional. The first hour in the hotel and I'm already thinking of coming back on my next trip to japan.

Het Dantokan Kikunoya heeft een warmwaterbron en ligt op 5 minuten rijden van het station JR Ogoto Onsen. Op voorafgaand verzoek is er een gratis ophaaldienst vanaf het station beschikbaar. The staff here are incredible. They went above and beyond to help us celebrate our honeymoon. I was so grateful for how hard they all worked and how kind they all were. We also got the breakfast service in our room, which was excellent, and they provided several drinks in the fridge for us for free. They shuttled us from the station and back to it, and we were even sent off by the staff at the end of our stay. So friendly and welcoming. Also, our deluxe suite had the private open air bath, and I can't recommend that enough. It was so relaxing and incredible. Lastly, I personally loved the toiletries and additional things that came with the room (shampoo, straightener, beverages, yukata, pajamas, etc.)

長浜城下 町屋ホテル 和乃リトリートひといき bevindt zich in Nagahama, op 14 km van kasteel van Hikone, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een terras en een bar. Loved the staff and the property - Shimpei and staff was superb, thoughtful, responsive, and just lovely. We learned so much about Lake Biwa’s local culture in such a short time thanks to Shimpei and Riyona (the resident artist)! We also loved the sauna and our room. Super cozy and also airy at the same time. Central location from train station (perfect walking distance), but quiet at the same time! Beautiful traditional neighbourhood. We also appreciated the property’s curation of local products such as the bancha tea sampler and sweet potato mochi. These little gestures/sharings really made an impression on us.

The Gran Resort Oumi Maiko is gelegen in Otsu, op 23 km van Tempel Sanzen-in, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een bar. The onsen was really great, there's a sauna and cold bath, as well as an outdoor bath.

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone ligt in Hikone, op 2,7 km van kasteel van Hikone en 6 km van treinstation Maibara, en biedt accommodatie met een restaurant, gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie en gratis... Nice view from the room and bath. Large room. Amazing dinner and service. Pretty much everything.

Honmachi Juku ligt in Hikone, op minder dan 1 km van kasteel van Hikone, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een gedeelde lounge. Fraaie locatie en op loopafstand tot het kasteel.

Kiyotaki Ryokan is gelegen in Hikone, in de regio Shiga, op 8 km van heiligdom Taga-taisha. Really quiet, amazing host, very good food for dinner and breakfast, incredible traditional japanese bathroom.
