Set in Yasugi, 26 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road, Shokinkan offers rooms with air conditioning and free WiFi. This is a traditional ryokan in an amazing setting. The facilities are very basic, but the food was truly exceptional, awesome variety, always left us satisfied, full and happy.

Situated in Matsue in the Shimane region, with Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum nearby, Ohashikan provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath. Stunning, authentic and clean room(s), kind and understanding staff who spoke to me slowly in Japanese to assist with checkin, and rules were reiterated in English on documents anyway despite Matsue being relatively rural. Absolutely beautiful view at both night and in the morning, I was shocked! Onsen came free with the stay. Zero complaints, the best stay of our trip around Japan.

Featuring quiet street views, Showcase Hotel KASANE is situated in the Arifuku Onsen district of Gotsu, 13 km from Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall and 41 km from Nima Sand Museum. Everything was so chic and modern in a traditional area. It’s this new wave of Japanese accommodation that is very impressive. It’s a little pricey, but absolutely worth every cent in my opinion.

Located near Atagoyama Park and Hirata Honjin Memorial Museum, Nipponia Izumo Hirata Cotton Road is in Izumo and provides free private parking and a restaurant. Having been to Izumo before and knowing it would not disappoint, I decided to take my family for another vacation in January. We stayed at Nipponia Izumo - Hirata Cotton Road for three nights. It is a former traditional sake brewery house converted into a kominka style hotel. Situated on a quiet historical sake and soy sauce business street, the hotel not only provided a unique home sweet home service but also amazing fine dining experience. Their in-house chef made each meal using local products to create feasts that delighted the senses. I highly recommend this hidden gem of an accommodation if you do visit Izumo.

Situated in Gotsu, in a historic building, 13 km from Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall, Ryokan Nushiya is a ryokan with an open-air bath and garden. This was our fourth trip to Japan and we've stayed in many ryokans. This is one of our favorites. The space we stayed at was huge. It was a two-story stand alone building. The seats looked out onto the courtyard with a pond and a lot of trees, which was very peaceful. I'm usually not the type to stay in my hotel/ryokan all day, but this place tempted me to do so due to the serenity of the courtyard. There were two private onsen that were easy to access due to the small number of guests that stay here. The food was fabulous. While walking around one morning I found a hiking trail that led up to castle ruins. The next morning I hiked up to the ruins and down the other side and came out near the Moss Land.

縁の宿 北堀 is set in Matsue, 24 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road, 25 km from Atagoyama Park, as well as 26 km from Hirata Honjin Memorial Museum. Meals weee exceptional. Michelin star quality

El Hoshi Ryokan està situat a només 1 minut a peu de l'estació de tren JR de Tsuwano. Spacious tatami room in a ryokan in Tsuwano. It is conveniently located around 1 minute’s walk from Tsuwano Station with restaurants and shops also nearby. Breakfast and dinner were great, and the staff are very welcoming and helpful, letting me know about a local Iwami kagura performance during my stay.

Set just 24 km from Lake Shinji, Saginoyusou offers accommodation in Yasugi with access to an open-air bath, a garden, as well as luggage storage space. My first 10 rating. Our room was fantastic, with a large sitting area, separate sleeping area with comfortable beds and private outdoor onsen. Staff were uniformly friendly, helpful and polite. Our meals were excellent and very filling. Each large window in our room looked out on different areas of an impeccably designed garden. We are already planning our next visit.

Senjoen provides a hot tub and free private parking, and is within 15 km of Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall and 42 km of Nima Sand Museum. There is a beach near the hotel and friendly staff

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Onsen Guest House Aobato no Su offers accommodation in Matsue, a few steps from Tamatsukuri Onsen. Free private parking is available on site. The place was beautiful and the facilities were spotless and just what you need. I highly recommend this place if you just want a mini retreat :)
