Set in Yasugi, 26 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road, Shokinkan offers rooms with air conditioning and free WiFi. The food was exceptional - very fresh, local, beautifully prepared and presented, a new menu every day. The location is superb, particularly with the autumn foliage. This is a classic ryokan in a temple complex in the hills. Surrounded by vegetation. Just very beautiful. And the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Situated in Matsue in the Shimane region, with Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum nearby, Ohashikan provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath. Irish writer Lafcadio Hearn （Japanese name Yakumo Koizumi）used to staying here for several years. The hotel staffs are all kind and nice. The breakfast seems healthy and tastes good. The box for breakfast is printed some local words and you can learn some local languages from it. Our seats capture the beauty of Lake Shinji. It’s a very pleasant stay.

Featuring quiet street views, Showcase Hotel KASANE is situated in the Arifuku Onsen district of Gotsu, 13 km from Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall and 41 km from Nima Sand Museum. Everything was so chic and modern in a traditional area. It’s this new wave of Japanese accommodation that is very impressive. It’s a little pricey, but absolutely worth every cent in my opinion.

Located near Atagoyama Park and Hirata Honjin Memorial Museum, Nipponia Izumo Hirata Cotton Road is in Izumo and provides free private parking and a restaurant. Having been to Izumo before and knowing it would not disappoint, I decided to take my family for another vacation in January. We stayed at Nipponia Izumo - Hirata Cotton Road for three nights. It is a former traditional sake brewery house converted into a kominka style hotel. Situated on a quiet historical sake and soy sauce business street, the hotel not only provided a unique home sweet home service but also amazing fine dining experience. Their in-house chef made each meal using local products to create feasts that delighted the senses. I highly recommend this hidden gem of an accommodation if you do visit Izumo.

Situated in Gotsu, in a historic building, 13 km from Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall, Ryokan Nushiya is a ryokan with an open-air bath and garden. Secluded area, very quiet. Loved the outdoor onsen in my room, especially on cold days, the contrast is awesome. They had 2 private indoor solo onsens that were FCFS, and a large community shared one. Kaiseki meal was great. Wish there was more beef as it was awesome.

縁の宿 北堀 is set in Matsue, 24 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road, 25 km from Atagoyama Park, as well as 26 km from Hirata Honjin Memorial Museum. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the food was among the best food we had on our entire japan trip. We traveled with one vegetarian and they were able to make great vegetarian food as well which we really appreciated! The inn was cozy and well managed and we had everything we needed. The location by the river and so close to Matsue Castle was also amazing. We can recommend this inn and Matsue city to everyone interested in seeing a different japan!

Set just 24 km from Lake Shinji, Saginoyusou offers accommodation in Yasugi with access to an open-air bath, a garden, as well as luggage storage space. My first 10 rating. Our room was fantastic, with a large sitting area, separate sleeping area with comfortable beds and private outdoor onsen. Staff were uniformly friendly, helpful and polite. Our meals were excellent and very filling. Each large window in our room looked out on different areas of an impeccably designed garden. We are already planning our next visit.

Senjoen provides a hot tub and free private parking, and is within 15 km of Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall and 42 km of Nima Sand Museum. There is a beach near the hotel and friendly staff

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Onsen Guest House Aobato no Su offers accommodation in Matsue, a few steps from Tamatsukuri Onsen. Free private parking is available on site. The room was cozy, comfortable and bigger than expected. I especially enjoyed the traditional elements and the garden view from the room. The onsen was very nice and I felt refreshed afterwards. The location was perfect for walking the length of the town. We fell in love with the charm of the magatama town. Beautiful at night and during the day. Natural foot baths ajoined to the river, cute cafes, delicious izakaya food, accessories and so many magatama that you will be enamored by. The history felt alive. I highly recommend this location to anyone!
