Comfortable Accommodations: Onsen Guest House Tsutaya in Hakone offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and mountain views. Possibly the best hostel I have ever stayed - though that word doesn’t do it justice! Onsen and all common spaces were beautiful, the kitchen was the best appointed I’ve ever seen with everything from cooking sake to coffee beans and grinders, staff were helpful. It’s a bit out of the way of things but that makes for a really peaceful atmosphere.

The breakfast was one of the best ones I ever had! Food was so good, the hotel is very clean and organized. The onsen area is very nice with Hakone milky waters. And specially, their staff is amazing! The girls at the reception were so kind and friendly! Really good service.

Lovely authentic room. The staff were helpful and offered indoor shoes to use in the ryokan. Great showering facilities. Just wish I had read my messages on booking com sooner to organise breakfast! Great recommendations for a ramen place around the corner and some local shops for souvenirs.

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. Amazing experience, everything was perfect. Very beautiful place with lovely scenery, highly recommend.

I loved the ability to book a private onsen where the backdrop is the outdoor forest of bamboo and local trees. The kaiseki was absolutely delicious and one of the best highlights of our entire trip

Opened in June 2013, The Edo Sakura offers accommodation in a Japanese-style Machiya townhouse located a 5-minute walk from Iriya Subway Station and a 10-minute walk from JR Uguisudani Train Station. Very clean and wonderful staff

Viesnīca Hakone Suimeiso atrodas 3 minūšu pastaigas attālumā no dzelzceļa stacijas Hakone Yumoto un 15 minūšu pastaigas attālumā no tempļa Soun-ji. Wonderful traditional ryokan just a short walk from Hakone-Yumoto station, with stunning views of the river and the forest from the room and the outdoor onsen. It feels secluded and truly idyllic, yet is close to the center. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, and we felt very comfortable. Kaiseki-dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and so delicous. The whole stay was a great experience for us. Absolutly recommended!

Opened in 1878, The Fujiya Hotel features Meiji Era architecture set in Hakone’s natural beauty. The well-preserved building itself was impressive, and I expect it will be a memorable stay. The facilities are all clean and well-maintained.
