Situated 48 km from Kanazawa Castle, Daibutsu Ryokan offers 2-star accommodation in Takaoka and has free bikes. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the ryokan free of charge. Very kind people running the ryokan. I accidently left an umbrella that I borrowed from them at the nearby store, and the lady said don't worry about it and that she'll get it. It was very genuine. Was only a few other people staying at the time I was there, so it was very quiet. And the bathhouse was a very relaxing and unique experience. Many amenities are surprisingly provided as well, and as soon as I checked in the gentleman provided me hot tea. Was very good value for the money... I just wish there was more to do in Takaoka, but there's some decent day trips you can take from there. Would without a doubt stay there again if I went to Takaoka.

Located in Himi in the Toyama region, La se ri Resort and Stay provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot tub. The silence and the calm was what we enjoyed the most. It was worth the price and would like to ho again if we had a chance again.

This hotel faces the sea! We had a pretty small room, but the view is amazing! Seeing the sunrise / sunset into the horizon is a great experience! The half-board dinner is also exceptional! Not sure if it differs day-to-day, but ours was a 5-course meal, and we were already full from the first course!! The onsen experience is impeccable as well, as we can relax in the hot water while facing the calm seas. Really recommend this place!

Located within 49 km of Toyama-kō and 600 metres of Kurobe Gorge in Kurobe, Enraku features accommodation with seating area. This ryokan provides free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. Good location. I was served dinner and breakfast in the room that had a huge variety of local cuisine and seasonal specialities.

Offering a garden and inner courtyard view, Tanakaya is situated in Kurobe, 29 km from Toyama-kō and 36 km from Toyama Station. In this ever changing, chaotic and even crazy world, I admire a well-run family business (small or large) which passes on from generation to generation, like the Tanakaya (since 1911). My wife and I have one of the five larger rooms with superb views of the Japanese garden with architectural and water features (charming with the new snow cover). The included Kaiseki dinner (delicious, sumptuous, but not too elaborate or overly filling) and breakfast are served not in our room but in a separate and private dinner room, which we like. The clear-water onsen is not huge and indoor only, but has full glass panels facing a small bamboo grove in the garden. Old-fashioned warm and attentive service attitudes prevailed. A mature lady of the 4th generation greeted us when we arrived, another of the 5th generation briefed us, and a third lady was assigned to take us to our room, serve us dinner and breakfast and prepare our beddings. All three of them waited for us when we checked out, and followed our small shuttle bus as it drove out to the parking lot and onto the road to wave us goodbye despite the snow and cold weather. We saw members of the 6th generation chatting and playing in the lounge just before dinner the evening before, while we were viewing the manuscripts and books of a poet (also a member of the family) in a display room near the reception, I wish the traditions of excellence and service of this small ryokan (and many others) will continue to be passed on to the next generations.

Only a 3-minute walk from Unazuki Onsen Train Station, Kurobe Unazukionsen Yamanoha offers Japanese and Western-style accommodations with a flat-screen TV. Staff was wonderful, polite. Even one young man who was originally from Taiwan could speak some English and was very helpful. The food was excellent and plenty of variety. Plan to return.

Set in Nanto and only 48 km from Kanazawa Castle, 富山県 よしのや旅館 offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. This lovely out of the way place nestled in the mountains was the perfect get away from the madness that can be the big cities. The staff are friendly and warm. The food was excellent. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend.
