It was beautiful, very traditional and everything was perfectly done. The rooms were spacious with lovely views, the public bath and rotenburo were amazing and the staff were fantastic. They were so kind to us even though we didn’t speak Japanese. They coped well with us being unable to do justice to the awesome kaiseki meals. Having our own Onsen in the room was the cherry on top!

This is a very traditional and even historic "hotel". We booked a corner suite which was honestly Japan fabulous. Overlooking the exquisite gardens and with anything one might want, although very traditionally Japanese. The stone tub private onsen was excellent. We arrived in the midst of a late heat wave and the a/c worked well, even in the "traditional" part of the lodging. Breakfast was served in a private booth and was wonderful. The staff was helpful and attempted to accommodate non-English speakers in our party.

Great location with fantastic views. Onsen was good but the stand out was the food, absolutely superb! The best meals we have had in Japan by far.
