FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.

Budapest is a beautiful city that has a lot to offer, restaurants, shops, beautiful buildings with a lot of history and various things for the kids. Easy public transportation and easy to book a taxi through the app Bolt. However, the hospitality of the locals could be mistaken for rudeness but is probably more a result of cultural history. In general, our interactions with the locals were good and helpful. Will definitely come back.

The city is super clean, there is a trash can everywhere (which is super helpful). BENCH EVERYWHERE, so you can just randomly sit down and just chill and admire the city. Not a big fan of touristy places, so I just went and explored the parks, cafes, and restaurants- which kept me busy all day because too many things to try!

    First of all its safe.

First of all its safe. Its worth to visit.. people are nice and helpful. But do not do any shopping if you expect tax free! They do not give back at airport! The custom guy js not there you have to call and he refused to come! We were so many people front of it and none of us managed to get stamp! I ll complain to airport and make sure this message reaches everyone! Other than food is average i did not find any great or even “ really good” restaurant or food. If you will use taxi definitely download “Bolt” app. Otherwise taxi drivers charged a lot and they do not open taximeter! Unfortunately no where has free wifi so make sure your tariff valid in hungary.

Budapest is a very beautiful city, with a lot of things to see. They have very good public transportation, so you can go everywere you want ! The only thing which is not so good, is that most of people don't speak english , so it was difficult to communicate.

The city of almost two million people really feels like one...

The city of almost two million people really feels like one - it is large, it has many different people, it has many different bars, restaurants, cafes, shops. Really try to visit some of the ruin bars - one of the bars was established in a former Jewish ghetto building, so that is a bit of a sad part of history, however, the place is very much alive and thriving, that is Szimpla Kert. However, one of the disadvantages of such a big city is constant smoking, the smell of piss, and some of the places are quite dirty, or maybe just a bigger level of trash everywhere, however, not as bad as some of the Balkan countries, or maybe even Rome! But, despite that, it is a city rich with history, people, beautiful sights, great public transport, so, definitely visit Budapest!

The hotel looks a little bit shabby on the outside, but inside it’s completely renovated and looks beautiful and modern. The breakfast was fine, simple, and provided something for everyone. The staff was always incredibly helpful and kind! It’s a little further away from the city centre but super close to a metro and busstation which will get you into the city with no time. I would 100% recommend if you’re travelling to Budapest by car because of the free parking that comes with your stay!!

This is my 2nd visit in 15 months. I actually upgraded to a junior suite !!! Absolutely luxurious for only an extra £20 a night. One of the best city break hotels I have stayed in from all over Europe. Spotless, luxurious, most friendliest staff I have ever met. Best location in centre but very quiet and still private. 5 mins from Danube, shops, restaurants and easy to catch transport to attractions. Staff surprised us on my daughter’s birthday with a piece of delicious birthday cake and a Happy Birthday letter and fruit.
