If you are looking for a place to stay in Lijiang - stop looking, you found it. This hotel has it all: a perfect location (close to South Gate, yet very quiet), nice atmosphere of an”ancient town”, surprisingly well equipped rooms (electric heated beds were a bliss for a cold rainy day) and a nice breakfast served with a smile. But who makes this hotel so special is the lady who runs the place. She made our stay in Lijang smooth and easy. And you have to remember - without local help travelling around China is reality challenging. We had great contact before arrival, she organized our transfers and two unforgettable day trips- all tailored to our needs and for a very good price. Mandy,thank you so much! And last but not least: there are two beautiful dogs, the mist gentle and sweet giants I’ve ever seen.

First of all, Julia - the manager of the Inn, is exceptionally friendly, helpful, and attentive, including her small Team of staff. Julia started reaching out to us well before we arrive in China via first by Whatsapp and then we communicate on WeChat. She arranged someone to pick us up from the Train Station, and later also send us back when we left. Julia also made full arrangement for us for a day trip to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, including a Driver and tickets, with not extra charges, and also discounted ticket to The Legend of Romance show. The Inn is very nice - clean, comfortable, and very quiet - BIG room with ensuite with a BIG bathtub. The whole property just make us feel relax and welcoming. It is located about 500m from the Carpark, with lots of restaurants just 20-50m away (ask Julia, she has a good list of suggestion). It is a bit out of the busy area in the Old Town, but that's exactly what we wanted. Best of all, it is behind the Police Station of the Old Town - so probably the safest place around :) Cannot thanks enough for Julia and her Team hospitality - the fantastic tea and fruits served when we reach "home", the chatting sharing of local info (Julia is very informative), and the small menu breakfast with fantastic coffee that's good enough for the start of the day. I have no knowledge of other accommodations in Lijiang Old Town, but if I ever go back Lijiang and Julia is there, I will certainly stay at Artistic Suite again.

The accommodation is conveniently located within the old town and is a good base for travel to other ancient towns. Room was very clean and comfortable. The host David was very helpful and thoughtful, going out of his way to assist us in many ways, e.g. arranging for private tours at our request and bringing us around the old town, making our stay a very pleasant one.
