Anyone looking for an off the beaten path true Costa Rica experience would really enjoy this place! The owner and his family live next door and provided us with a tour of the property, highlighting the verity of plants they grow, including 3 types of coconuts, several types of bananas, vanilla, cacao, sugar cane, wild ginger, turmeric, and several types of fruits. The best part is, we got to sample all the freshly grown products that were in season while we were there. They also offer delicious traditional homemade meals using locally sourced ingredients for a very reasonable price, which I highly recommend! While the house itself is off a remote dirt road, it is only about a 15 minute drive to Playa Carrillo beach, which in our opinion, was one of the best beaches we've been to. There is also an amazing little restaurant, Restaurante El Dorado, off the same dirt road as the house. Note, if going to El Dorado for dinner, be sure to stop in during to day to make sure they will be open that night since the woman who owns the restaurant literally runs the restaurant by herself. Everything about the house and experience far exceeded our expectations! The house itself is very clean and modern while fitting perfectly into the beautiful natural surroundings. If you're looking for a party house or touristy area experience, this is not the place for you. However, if you're looking to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Costa Rica, and experience the authentic local culture an delicious traditional food, this house is perfect!

Super nice location, very special, large windows to see outside but no one can see inside (but unlikely anyway that someone would come).

Comfortable, light and spacious, with thoughtful details and large sliding balcony doors which brought nature inside. The warm welcome, with a homemade banana muffin and coffee and the delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and homemade bread, were wonderful. The cotton sheets and comfortable bed made for a restful sleep. Andreas and Ruth thought of every detail - I cannot wait to return to this paradise in the mountains with beautifully-tended tropical gardens. Close to town, Monte Sky, Lankester botanical garden. There are refrigerators in the bungalow and a separate outdoor kitchen available for guests to use.

If I could rate this place higher than a 10, I would. Gorgeous views, clean and quaint lodging with plenty of room to spread out for a family of four, with just the right amount of amenities and an incredibly kind and helpful caretaker on site who makes himself available for anything needed; from restaurant suggestions to how to open/close the gate to a private chicken coop tour. :) Francisco was a true joy to meet. This site is full of little wonderful surprises. On our too short of a stay we found a cute personalized welcome message board, squeezed in a soccer game on our own field with goals!, enjoyed an unexpected mini-view of the volcano (thanks to Francisco), and found fresh eggs in our kitchen from Francisco’s own chickens! We wish we could have partaken in the ‘Be a Farmer for a Day’ activity offered. It was all lovely and magical, but hands down the best part of this place are the caretaker and host. When I was horrified to discover we had accidentally left the premises with the tv remote control, I was sure I would have a terrible time returning it to them as we had already left the area. But the host worked with me quickly to facilitate a smooth and easy way to return it to the house by the end of the day. No problemo! De mi corazón, gracias F y D!
