Set in Kailua-Kona, 2 km from Magic Sands Beach, The Bamboo House has a garden, parking on-site and rooms with free WiFi access. We chose this place for our first night on the Hawaiian Islands. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive from the airport. The popular restaurants are also within a 2-3 mile drive, so it’s a great location! The surrounding neighborhood is very quiet. The overall service and room were very thoughtful. The check-in process was simple and clear, with insect-repelling scents and sprays, a small nightlight in the bathroom, a guestbook by the door, and even face masks available! There’s also a steam iron and regular iron to choose from. We only realized after leaving that there was no TV, which fits perfectly with the bamboo and zen concept.

Super like the outdoor kitchen and dinette – a peaceful place surrounded by nature sounds that can spend all day, and there always had little visitors came by. Patrick is a very friendly and thoughtful host, he also gave good advice about the local highlights. Everything made my stay so enjoyable.

Feel at home atmosphere, very cosy, large living room perfect to relax. Kelly is a wonderful caring host who gave us lots of tips, told about Big Island and made delicious breakfast. Snacks, coffee and tea available. Simply great, highly reccommended.

Kilauea House is set in Volcano, 18 km from Kilauea, 45 km from Pana'Ewa Rainforest Zoo, as well as 49 km from University Of Hawaii, Hilo. By far the best place I stayed on the Big Island. Close to the park. Cozy room. Welconing owners. Amazing in-room breakfast.
