Very nice Chalet for about 3 or 4 people, we enjoyed our stay there. Very clean and good beds. Hosts were friendly and respond quickly to SMS. Location on a road, 50 meters away, is both an advantage (access) as a disadvantage, though it was really very quiet at night. Very easy to get everywhere in Hautes-Vosges or to go for local walks. Nice view to the opposite slope; take binoculars, we saw deer and even fox playing. 20 minute drive to La Bresse, which is kind of the touristic centre in the area; 10 min to Intermarche (Thilot) and 5 min to the local bakkery (in the village itself).

We booked 1 chalet for 2 nights for our team of four. Total price in Booking =€225. Because my account is with my personal business credit card and the trip was with our shared company, I requested the property beforehand not to use my credit card and asked them how to pay. When we arrived (check in time was 16:00) no one was there. After calling them by phone the owner said someone will arrive ±18:00. We had to wait outside. Around 18:00 a guy arrived saying our chalet was not available. He tried to put us in 2 separate rooms for 2 people each. We explained we wanted the chalet and eventually he gave in. It was not cleaned which he did quickly. He brought us 4 (old) towels and said he wouldn’t charge us for those as a compensation for the waiting. There was no hot water till 11 PM and we had 2 power cuts! We called & wrote the owner asking for help. No reply. We had to wait till the guy coincidently passed by to ask him to fix it. At checkout there was nobody. We called & wrote the owner. No reply. Hours later my bank texted that my credit card (which we asked not to use) was charged €402.20! We asked the property. No reply. Booking then told us the property said they will not charge it. The property finally sent us the payment info but asked €261 instead of €225. We assumed the extra €36 was for the towels (though the guy said they wouldn’t charge). Because we were tired of it, we paid the €261. We then wrote a fair review in Booking describing our experiences. The next day the property charged us €402.20! So we paid €663.20 for a reservation of €225! After many phone calls with Booking + messages to the property we got €261 back. The property wrote us they are angry about our original review and started blaming us for ‘damages’ (of what?). Later they said it’s ‘€141 for cleaning’. Outrageous! We’re neat, non-smoking adults and left the place tidy. We still didn’t get the €141 back. I’m using Booking worldwide >12 years.
