Akira San and his family are so kind and helpful from the moment we arrived until our checkout date, best hosts we got all over our Japan trip.

The food was amazing, it was an experience on it's own. Be prepared to eat things that you wouldn't usually eat and have a real authentic Japanese experience. I looked forward to breakfast every day, the food was beautiful and presented beautifully. The owners are super helpful and the location to the ski lifts is superb. We hadn't done an Onsen yet until we stayed at Shiga Kogen, so it was baptism by fire as the shared bathrooms is the Onsen, but don't be put off, it's an amazing experience and the Onsen is great after a day on the slopes.

The staff is nice, if you are thinking of visiting the Snow Monkey Park is a great location, the food is awesome so I recommend that you take both breakfast and dinner if you can. The outdoor onsen was great, too, and the bedrooms are comfortable, and you are provided with a traditional japanese experience as well.

This was simply a wonderful ryokan The owners are a lovely couple - very kind and responsive, and they speak English The owner met us at the train station, took us to the Monkey Park, and even showed us where to find some delicious ramen (which we really did enjoy) The ryokan itself has a great onsen - just as good as public ones They also provided us with yukata, which was a nice way to experience Japanese culture At the end of our stay, the owner kindly drove us back to the train station I would absolutely recommend this place- one of the best we’ve ever stayed at!

Shibu Hotel, featuring traditional course meals using Shinshu beef, private hot springs, and shared open-air and indoor baths, is an 8-minute ride from Yudanaka Station via free shuttle bus. The perfect location, a wonderful room, fantastic meals and gracious hosts. This hotel is also very close to the snow monkeys!
