Our room had a view of the public osen which was nicely lit up at nice. The steam film the hot springs contrasted nicely with the snow. Very friendly and hospitable family. Felt well taken care of. They even came out in the biting cold to clear the snow from our car.

Me sorprendió mucho lo alto que estaba el lugar pero al llegar me encantó las instalaciones, toda la planta baja era de madera con muchos detalles, todo muy limpio y cómodo para estar, tenía gimnasio el cual utilice, el baño estaba muy bien

El Miyamaso Takamiya está situado a 10 minutos a pie del teleférico de Zao Sky Cable y cuenta con 9 baños termales naturales. Very nice, old style but classic hotel. Staff very supportive and food was very good

Incredible staff, the hosts are so kind and make you feel at home, there’s a group dinner you can join every night and it’s always amazing food. Great location in between Kita-Yamagata and Yamagata station. I will definitely return, I really loved staying here

Yamagata Zao Pension Apron Stage es un alojamiento 3 estrellas ubicado en Kaminoyama, a 2,3 km de Centro de esquí Zao Hotsprings, y tiene un jardín, una terraza y un restaurante. This is a great pension run by a lovely family. The husband picked us up at the bus station and drove us to the pension and also took us to the slopes in the morning. They gave us a coupon for renting gear and a map explaining the different onsen options around town. Their English is pretty limited, but they are happy to use Google translate. Also, it was not a big deal, but I think it is important for foreign guests to be aware that ski culture in Japan sort of assumes you are eating dinner at your accommodation. We did not know this and did not book dinner at the hotel. Most restaurants in town were fully booked with reservations (although there is a convenience store with good takeaway food), so try to book dinner at the hotel or make a dinner reservation somewhere well in advance. We were very luck and managed to make a reservation at the Mongolian lamb place Kasheru for the second night and that was amazing. But we saw restaurants turning people away repeatedly because everywhere in town was full. Also, the family will not pick you up by car any later that 6:45 pm (perfectly reasonable) and the public ski shuttles don't run on weekdays, so you need to pre-book a taxi if dinner will end later than that (which it probably will since most restaurants open at 6 pm). And there are not a lot of taxis and no Uber. I wish I had realized all of this up front, but that was our own ignorance and our stay was great regardless. Again, this is just the local ski culture and not the hotel's fault. It's just helpful information for future guests.

Zao Sunvalley Hotel está ubicado en Yamagata. El hotel 3 estrellas ofrece un restaurante y tiene habitaciones con aire acondicionado, wifi gratis y baño privado. Location very good - ski in and out. All the staffs are super friendly and helpful. They know Japanese, English even Mandarin. Bcs of these staffs, the resort truly feels like home myself- cozy and chilled. Cleanliness is good as well. Really appreciate all their help and services. Definitely will stay at the same resort if I come back Zao. Be likes.

Polar Bear 藏王白熊民宿, ubicado en Kaminoyama, a 2,2 km de Centro de esquí Zao Hotsprings, tiene wifi gratis y vistas a la montaña. It is located around 5-min drive to zao onsen ski resort. The price is reasonable. Room is warm and homey styled. House is very clean and new. The owner is generous and taking good care of guests. No breakfast but it does not matter for us. The host replied in chat so fast.
