To be clear, a few things were good: the food, the cocktails, the gardens, the quiet beach, and the lake view. The staff was polite, although communication in English was difficult. We were also allowed to check in one hour early, even if it was in a twin room instead of the double room we had actually booked. That is where the positives end.

Situated in Castro, 18 km from Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chonchi Church, Meular Chiloe features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. 100 Points for Gloria and Jose-Louis. They were wonderful hosts. We arrived late and tired and were able to order a delicious soup and salad meal on short notice. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and stylish (and of course clean). The private hot tub, looking out over the trees was great. Breakfast by the fire was a great start to the day. We got a great tip where to eat out on the next night and had one of the best meals of our trip. On our last day Gloria took us on an excursion to Dalcahue and then to Parque Meular, which is not even open to the public yet. It was a priviledge. We also enjoyed talking to Gloria and Jose-Louis late into the night to discover the similarities and differences between Germany and Chile and many other topics. WE fehlt totally at home.

The Andes is an outdoor lodge located nearby Puelo River, Cochamó. Among the various facilities are a garden, a terrace, as well as a shared lounge. The hotel has a hot tub and entertainment staff. A much too short stay in a beautiful lodge in a fantastic landscape. Competent and friendly personal, tasty dinners and good breakfasts rounded up our stay. And don' t miss a visit in the nearby termas del sol.
