Cycling is so easy as the hotel really is in the middle of the forest but glad we had e-bikes as steep slopes all around. The bridge directly into the forest was an instant immersion into to Schwarzwald. We also took advantage of the wellness program and did qi-jong in the fresh air and reminded ourselves to slow down and breathe! The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Big shout out to our waitress Anna too.

The check-in staff (specially Aditya and Max) were very welcoming and looked after me through out my stay. The restaurant staff were very attentive and the food was just amazing. And there is great food available for breakfast and served for dinner. The hotel is run by a family which creates a great atmosphere and services are delivered with great care and pride. It is relatively easy to travel to Hinterzarten by public transport and the hotel is within 10 mins walk from the railway station. The forest trails start within less than 100 meters from the hotel. There are great many forest walks and lots of things to do in the area.

We recently stayed at this charming hotel during a short trip from Barcelona to France/Germany to visit the Christmas Fair in the region, and it truly exceeded our expectations. Our room was spacious, very comfortable, and well designed. We brought our small dog with us, and we were delighted to find a separate little foyer where he could rest comfortably without invading the bedroom. It made our stay so much more pleasant. The bedroom itself was cozy and warm, with a beautiful view of the forest right in front of the hotel: absolutely peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was one of the biggest surprises. It was well curated, offering continental and non-continental options, all fresh and delicious. The owner, a lovely lady, personally came to each table to ask if we would like an egg prepared to our preference, which she cooked herself; my daughter loved it. The location couldn’t have been better. The hotel is right beside Gengenbach, a place we discovered entirely by accident, and it turned out to be magical. We were happy to walk into a beautiful Christmas fair with great food and fantastic local restaurants. We couldn’t be happier with our stay and will definitely return. Highly recommended!
