As is generally the case with smaller Japanese properties outside of the big cities, we did not have to contend with any language barriers. Brett Cox, a member of the staff, is a native English speaker. He made our stay exceptional. Kudos also to the chef for accommodating vegetarians, not an easy feat in Japan. Omotenashi has been perfected by the Setouchi Retreat. Well done.

Very modern hotel. That's the first hotel that I had that part of the checkin process you get a choose your preferred pillow to take with you. When you reach tghe room you see that there are also pillows on the bed. Breakfast buffet was good and were able to choose both western and Japanese food.

The staff are super courteous and give you a real sense of Japanese culture. Our room was large and had a lovely view onto the river. Free coffee and soft drinks, and an onsen was included (we didn't even need to use the shower in our room). Really great value for the service we received!

The hotel is located in Toon-City in an odd location. It sat in a car park across from a number of supermarket type stores but it meant there was plenty of free parking. We chose to stay here as the train journey from the nearest station (Minara) to Matsuyama is just 30 minutes. Easier to stay here than battle the traffic in Matsuyama even though the walk to the station was 20 mins. The hotel was built 25 years ago but in 2021 was fully renovated. The finish was superb and cleanliness impeccable. Guests were required to take off shoes and put them in lockers in reception to keep the tatami mat flooring clean. Everyone padded about in socks. The public spaces were huge and there were several comfortable lounges offering complimentary tea / coffee etc. Ditto several restaurant spaces. The main attraction for some guests is the spa which is included in the tariff. The spa had indoor and outdoor pools etc. Women's & men's separate facilities. I also took advantage of the beauty parlour. A very good 50 min exfoliation / massage was just 6,600 yen. Our accommodation package included breakfast and dinner and was very good value. A delicious multi course Japanese dinner was served in a very sophisticated space. Breakfast was slightly more fast food Japanese / European buffet.

Hotel Katsuyama Premiere tesisi, Matsuyama şehrinde, Botchan Train Museum ve Matsuyama Kalesi yakınında odalar sağlar. Omg the pillow! I'm still looking for the brand! Typical hotel, everything was new, clean and well maintained. Really accessible. The Onsen was really good as well.
