Yuraku Kinosaki Spa & Gardens biedt accommodatie in Japanse stijl bij de beroemde warmwaterbronnen van Kinosaki. Oh my goodness, Yuraku was all we ever hoped for and more. Having lived in Japan before, I kind of expected all the pleasures of a ryokan but this property exceeded everything. The room was lovely with a stunning view into the Japanese garden build into a tree lined hillside. The ryokan has a traditional feel to it with lovely wooden structures, tasteful but not overbearing decorations and private and public baths which guests could use in addition to free entry to the towns public hot spring bath houses for which it is famous. The food was fantastic. We had Japanese breakfast on both days of our stay and dinner on one evening. In addition, the service and facilities were great and the staff was wonderful - friendly and discreet. I will recommend this place to all friends who travel to the Kyoto area as an antidote to the hassle and bustle of big city life. Beware that the town itself is quite touristy and can be crowded at times. But as soon as you enter Yuraku ryokan, which is slightly set back from the main streets, you will find yourself in a haven of peace. Strongly recommended!

Hotel is just next to China town.

Het Kobe Portopia Hotel is gunstig gelegen op slechts 5 minuten wandelen van het station Shimin Hiroba van de Port Island-lijn. Het biedt een 24-uursreceptie en 13 restaurants, cafés en bars. The Portopia hotel is on one of the new islands in Kobe and is connected to Sannomiya station via subway train. As such it's a short 15min to downtown. The station is directly next to the hotel and is connected to it by roofed walkway. There is also a regular free shuttle bus from the hotel to Sannomiya station. In the other direction the train goes to Kobe airport and the ferry to Kainsai airport. Although not in downtown it is extremely well located. Since it's on the island there are not that many restaurants around, but the hotel has plenty food options itself. This includes a family mart in the building, which is extremely useful. We had a bigger room and it was very well equipped, with strong internet, a small sitting area and table to enjoy the great views. The views are either of Kobe city or the island and the bay beyond it. One thing to strongly consider is adding breakfast. The main breakfast restaurant is on the 30th floor and offers even better views with a very, very good breakfast buffet. This was definitely a highlight during the stay. Throughout the staff are all very friendly and typically speak English. Overall I would say the Portopia hotel is an exceptionally good option to consider when in the area and I will definitely go again.
