We were just here for 1 night, but it is big enough to use as a base for a week or more if desired. Our host very kindly brought us some homemade lemonade on arrival, and had put a half-bottle of Prosecco in the fridge for us. She also showed us how to turn on the sauna and jacuzzi, and said we were welcome to pick the ripe berries (loganberries, raspberries and blackcurrants) in our garden - they were delicious. Spotlessly clean, masses of fluffy towels, very comfy bed. And we also really liked having the whole range of recycling bins in the kitchen drawer!

Van der Valk Hotel Assen is a 4-star hotel, set just off the A28 highway to Groningen. It is located at the edge of the Baggelhuizerplas and at a distance of 2.5 km from Assen. Reception staff were brilliant, friendly and very helpful. The Hotel is gorgeous and beautifully decorated. The room size is just lovely and the bathrooms are very well appointed. The hotel amenities are an added bonus - as was the jet bath! Breakfast was abundant and delicious. Highly recommended. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
