Kaname Inn Tatemachi is set in Kanazawa, 800 metres from Kenrokuen Garden and 1.1 km from Kanazawa Castle. It was walking distance to almost all the places of interest. The room was spacious enough for more than solo traveller for the standard room. The toilet/bathroom was great. Bed is comfortable. There was enough hangings to hang my clothes. The table was big enough for me to put my necessities and still do work with my laptop.

Beautiful and well equipped house that made our stay so delightful. It is spacious for my family of 4. Comes with washing machine (no dryer) but sufficient hangers and drying rack. There is a toaster and microwave oven. Convenient location, with easy access to the bus stop and shops. Owner is responsive to our questions and very helpful.

Set 2 km from Kanazawa Castle, Machi no Odoriba offers 3-star accommodation in Kanazawa and features a garden. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Machi no Odoriba has been the highlight of our trip. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the Ryokan is absolutely dreamy. You have your own private onsen, a huge amount of space and a gorgeous garden. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The breakfast was utterly delicious, and we really appreciated them making us a bento box for the morning we had to head off early. Also, take them up on the restaurant offer for one night, the food was incredible!

Featuring 3-star accommodation, Yamanoo is situated in Kanazawa, 1.7 km from Kenrokuen Garden and 2.9 km from Kanazawa Station. Excellent experience staying at a traditional Japanese inn. The staff were exceptional, the grounds were beautiful and quiet, and the private house with the onsen bath was lovely.

Set in Shika, 32 km from Notojima Glass Art Museum, Pension & Cafe Cruise offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The couple who run the place are so, so nice, and were able to accommodate my friend’s food allergies without any problems (which, if you know Japan, you know that that’s not always the case!). Plus, the breakfast we got was huge and totally delicious. But the real draw is that the house itself is BEAUTIFUL. I can’t stress enough how charming it is- everywhere you look there’s some lovely tchotchke or antique to discover, all very lovingly arranged. There’s a huge deck outside where you can sit and enjoy the sounds of nature; a massive bath that you can share with friends/fam or keep all to yourself; a room filled with the owners’ personal collection of Showa memorabilia; etc, etc. The rooms were pretty spare but perfectly suitable, especially given all the lounge spaces in the house. Overall AMAZING experience.

Located a 5-minute drive from JR Kanazawa Station, Ryokan Yamamuro offers Japanese-style guestrooms with free WiFi. Omicho Market and Kanazawa Castle Park can both be reached with a 5-minute walk. Virtues abound at this wonderful inn. The central location, the accommodating staff, the many room choices, the very nice onsen bath, the easy and pleasant common room, the perfect pillows and non-down comforters, the very quiet neighborhood. We stayed in the quiet second floor family room (with restrooms also on the second floor.) For what you get, this place is a bargain! Also, the incredible Kanazawa Curry Laboratory restaurant is only a few blocks away. Best three nights sleep we have had in years of visiting Japan!
