The word is out on Búzios. Once a sleepy fishing village, this town near Rio de Janeiro skyrocketed onto tourists' radars after Brigitte Bardot holidayed here during the early 1960s. Today, Búzios is one of Brazil's most glamorous and sought-after beach destinations, with all the boutique hotels, top-notch restaurants, exclusive villas and buzzy bars and clubs to show for it.
Spread out across the tip of a peninsula, Búzios offers a multitude of beaches for soaking in the sun. Ferradura and Tartaruga are both known for their stellar snorkeling conditions – sea turtles are often spotted riding the currents – with Tartaruga being particularly loved for its sunset views and kiosks selling snacks and cocktails. Catch a wave at Geriba Beach if you're looking to surf, or spend your savings at the upscale shops lining Osso Beach. Whatever your preference, don't miss the Orla Bardot Boardwalk near Canto Beach. The waterside promenade features some of the most scenic views in town.
Búzios is now an international hotspot for beachgoers, but you can still find remnants of its small-town past on Rua das Pedras. This street is lined with old cottages and boho cafés, while its seafront restaurants remain some of the best spots to enjoy the sunset over a caipirinha. From here, you can watch as the area transforms into a serious party scene.

This is a beautiful place, but it seems more suited to residents than to visitors. I couldn't escape the sensation of being an intruder on wealthy people's private beaches. The Orla Bardot is the one exception: it is beautiful and accessible. Pick your beach and stay at a pousada or hotel nearby. Getting around the peninsula is very difficult, whether by car (roads are narrow, windy and mostly cobbled, and parking is difficult) or on foot (the beaches are far apart, access is confusing and there are few footpaths). Still, it was well worth the visit just for the beautiful beaches.

Buzios é sempre maravilhoso. Recomendo se hospedar no centro, curtir a praia dos ossos, perto do barco-bar do Paulinho, os drinks são ótimos. Almoço no Cais de Gaia e noite no The house of Rock and Roll.

Buzios is one of the favourite destination for my family to go on holidays and vacations.. Located a couple of hours from Rio de Janeiro, is world wide known for its wonderful beaches. Surfing, windsurfing, walks and diving, there are good choices for everyone. The famous Rua das Pedras is in the centre of the city. Lots of delicious restaurants and shops wait for your vistit. You can also buy a Scuna trip( boat departing from Praia dos Ossos) and have an amazing view of the peninsula with its exuberant beaches. Visit Buzios and have a great experience!

GREAT place to get away. Beautiful beaches--a different one every day and something for everyone. You can find a hotel at every price point, from calm and quiet to the center of action. Rua das Pedras is perfect for evening strolls and too many restaurants to count. No one will be disappointed!

It's a beautiful place, with amazing options of restaurants, stores, amazing beaches! However I was disappointed on how dirty the streets, beaches and city in general were :( very sad that such a beautiful place is not well maintained by the local government and people who visit.
