Western Culture East of the Rockies
Set on plains dominated by the Rockies, Calgary shot to international fame as first Canadian host of the Winter Olympics. The Olympic Park is still used for skiing and summer events, and also houses Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Speed skating and ice hockey matches thrill crowds in the Olympic Oval, whereas NHL games kick off at the Saddledome, an arena on the Calgary Stampede grounds, site of a huge 10-day rodeo and Western festival. The neighbouring river meets the Bow River by Fort Calgary, a former Mountie outpost. The zoo is on one of the river’s islands, while Prince’s Island Park overlooks the downtown skyscrapers.
Calgary Tower offers far-reaching views, and Stephen Avenue at its feet is lined with restaurants and bars. 17 Avenue also offers good nightlife, while the Chinook Centre and Barclay Parade have a host of stores. The Core shopping centre includes Devonian Gardens, reportedly the world’s largest indoor gardens.
Other attractions include Telus Spark science centre, the eclectic Glenbow Museum and Heritage Park, where a paddle steamer and steam train transport you to Calgary of yesteryear.
Calgary Airport is near the city centre, and Booking.com offers luxury hotels with airport shuttles, cheap motels, and B&Bs with parking. If you’re lucky, you might even see the Northern Lights from your accommodation.

We don’t particularly like Calgary as a city so we often drive through when we are able to do so. It’s built to look like an American city with all the concrete transportation routes so is not a friendly space to land.
Really aggressive drivers so felt unsafe at times

we don't know calgary but there is no any information for city or bus map for this city from hotel. we joined one trip group. it is very good to use one day travel for the lakes and national park.

The stay was wonderful.
The stay was wonderful. Very cozy and everything was close by. The city center is just a few minutes' drive away and there's plenty to do on foot. Moe was an excellent host and made us feel right at home.

Calgary is a very busy, fast moving city. Not far from mountains. Getting around Calgary is challenging at times. We used to live there but we are 85 now. A good city for younger folks. We recommend The Silver Dragon restaurant for Chinese food.

Calgary is a beautiful city and I would really recommend it to people travelling to Banff to stay there and make it a base cause it works out to be much cheaper and also you get to see its beauty, especially its downtown area and Calgary Tower. What a view from the top of the tower......!!!!

It is a nice city or place to stay,, we are actually in the heart of city centre Calgary where all the shopping mall and supermarket is just walking distance. The Hotel that we stayed in [Ramada Plaza Wyndham Calgary Hotel] Excellent place to stay for visitors and holiday makers. The hotel itself is cosy and clean with a very lovely, helpful and kind hotel staff. They assist Us on our stay from our check-in till our check-out,, till we back to Vancouver. Superb service and Highly recommended place nor hotel to stay. We had a great time in Calgary and a memoir to cherish at all time.
The city centre had a lots of place to see and to walk around [tourist spots]. Just make sure you will visit the place [Calgary] on a sunny day not on a rainy season.

The location was very convenient, a short walk to the +15 network that allows access to most of downtown Calgary. The room was very comfortable with plenty of space. There was a full kitchen and even in-suite laundry (though I didn't use this). The hostess was easy to contact, very pleasant and efficient. I will stay here again on future trips to Calgary. I thoroughly enjoyed evening walks along the Bow River, which was literally just across the street from the hotel.

Excellent location, cute modern design in rooms and lobby, welcoming atmosphere. The room and bathroom are smaller than most hotel rooms, but love the view of the river and the easy accessibility to downtown Calgary. Love the complimentary Nespresso coffee!

Excellent location at downtown Calgary. Bus 300 from Airport to downtown (bus stop to the hotel only 190m). And walking distance to day tour pickup point. Good value for money
