We arrived after our chilly hike along the trail to a very warm and inviting traditional home. It was stocked with tea, coffee and drinks in the fridge, as well as some snacks. There were so many different areas to sit and relax in the home, we felt soo welcome and at home we did not want to leave. This was a stark contrast to our Air bnb we had in Kyoto where we felt we could not relax or enjoy the property. The sleepy town was fun to explore, the cafe next door was also very warm and welcoming filled with music and warmth. And the beds!! Being 6 months pregnant I was a little worried about the traditional futons on the floor but it was the best sleep I has the whole 3 weeks in Japan. I also appreciated the number of chairs for me to sit in. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing stay, we wish we could have stayed longer.

The owner helped us with knowing the house and how to handle anything in it, he made us feel like home. Great location, right in the middle of the old town, just 13 minutes walk from the Takayama station so it is very easy to get to. If we will ever be back in Takayama, there is absolutely no doubt, I will try to sleep there again ! Seriously, if it is available, don't hesitate, you won't have another chance to sleep in this kind of accomodations..
