The owners are very kind and excellent chefs, their fried rice, pumpkin curry and vege jungle fern were the best I’ve ever eaten. They are the most welcoming hosts I’ve ever met in Malaysia. Staying in their homestay was the highlight of the Gunung Mulu National Park.

Diana and her family are so friendly and helpful. It was a relaxing stay and refreshing break from “normal”.

Nestled within the lush greenery of Mulu National Park in Sarawak, Benarat Lodge offers cosy accommodation steps away from the Melinau Paku river, and 1 km from Tenguloh Cafe. Rooms are large with aircons and private bathrooms. It is across the river from Marriott, and five minutes by car from the airport and the national park. They will drive you to the national park for a small fee (5 myr per person).

Situated in Mulu, Mulu Village offers accommodation with a patio. The homestay offers a terrace. It is 2.4 km to Mulu National Park. The nearest airport is Mulu Airport, 2.6 km from Mulu Village. This was a big surprise. Brenda and James are awesome. There’s so much to see, do and learn about nature and the tribes there. We did some tours to caves with Brenda and we did a tour to Long Iman which was amazing, went to a long house and then walked to a waterfall. More remote than the tours within the park and maybe even cooler. We loved it! Price wise this is also a no brainer. Accommodation is basic but well kept. I was a bit nervous about not having an AC but it does cool off a bit at night.

Nestled amongst the natural and lush greenery of the rainforests near the border between Malaysia and Brunei, Mulu Marriott Resort is located on Melinau Paku River in Miri. everything was good. Friendly staff, transfer to airport and national park, nice breakfasts, clean rooms.
