We arrived at Casa Scheda fairly late, but our host Anna Maria, who lives on the floor below the apartment, was on hand to welcome us. Despite the language barrier we were able to communicate and she explained how things around the apartment work and where to find towels, pots & pans, etc. She also brought us some fruit as there was nowhere open at that hour. After a good night's sleep we were better able to appreciate what a fabulous - and enormous - apartment it is, and in such a lovely setting. As Italy was in the middle of a heatwave the small swimming pool was a huge bonus. The small town of Marradi, a few km down the road, had a number of restaurants, bars and cafes, and also a small supermarket. We took the train from Marradi to Ravenna one day; other easily reached destinations include Florence, Bologna and Rimini. All in all we had a wonderful week there.
