We are so happy we chose to stay at Wadano Gateway, a stylish lodge with amazingly friendly and obliging staff. Big thanks to Rena, Atsushi, Tim and Mike for a wonderful stay. The suites are beautiful, clean, roomy and comfortable. Even the ensuite is large by Japanese standards. It was great to have a king bed, dining table for 4, full kitchenette with everything you need - microwave, toaster oven, good size small fridge, cleaning products and condiments like cooking oil. Not that you need to cook, they offer a great breakfast with a different daily gourmet hot food option – croque monsieur, French toast, egg benedict etc and the village has some excellent eating options for dinner only 5 to 10 mins walk or the lovely staff are only too happy to shuttle you there. Sadly both restaurants were closed during our 6 day stay late in the season. A large party was held on Saturday night but the staff did a great job to minimize the noise.

The apartments at Ski Condos Hakuba feature a flat-screen cable TV, a DVD player and a Wii game console for entertainment. A spa bath, a hairdryer and free toiletries are included in the en suite bathroom. If I could give this place a million gold stars, I would. In order of importance (for us, anyway): 1. The owner, Bob, is an absolute gem. He's a Canadian ex-pat and long-time resident of Hakuba, so if you're in Japan for the first time, and have limited knowledge of the language and customs, he's an invaluable resource. Bob gave us recommendations for the best ski resorts, restaurants, and local attractions like onsen. He drove us to all of the above and picked us up. One of the most useful suggestions was shipping our snowboards to Haneda airport instead of having to schlep them around Tokyo with us. He came with us to the transport facility and helped us fill out the shipping forms. One of the really special, personal touches was the homemade apple cakes that his wife made; perfect with yogurt for pre-snowboard breakfast. In short, Bob is awesome! 2. Location. In walking distance from the main drag, but not in the middle of it so, very quiet at night. It's right across the street from Hakuba station so we were able to access transport to Nagano and Tokyo via walking. Plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby as well. 3. Facilities. These suites are spacious and well appointed. By Japanese standards, bathrooms are huge. The kitchens are well-stocked, and beds comfy with warm, cloud-like down comforters. View from rooftop is jaw-dropping. We enjoyed sunrises and sunset apres from there. There is a grill and plenty of seating as well, so if you are so inclined, could cook out.

Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort is 5.2 km from the apartment, while Hakuba Cortina Ski Area is 17 km away. The nearest airport is Matsumoto Airport, 65 km from HOPETREE CoCo HAPPO TOWNS. This accomodation exceeded expectations. It was spacious, clean, had 2 toilets, 2 showers, spacious rooms, a washing machine, dryer, stove top, microwave, kettle, utensils, fridge. It was brilliant. No key needed, pin code door access. And right next to the bus station that takes you to the ski fields.

Comfortable, close to shuttle pickup, well equipped, comfortable beds, all you need for a relaxing stay. Nice tv to relax with in the evenings. Hosts are super friendly and really helpful.

Togakushi Shrine is 42 km away and Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal is 1.8 km from the apartment.

Apartment A is on first floor and B on the second. We stayed at #A. it has 3 bedrooms and 8 beds. The living room and kitchen is spacious. It is great for families or a big group of ppl to stay multiple nights. The house is very new and clean. Mr. and Mrs. Williams are very nice people. We highly recommend this house. There is also big oil heater in the living room so it is very warm! We will be back in Hakuba and stay here again!
