I was originally supposed to only stay one night at Paloma Lodge from 6 Nov to 7 Nov, but because I enjoyed my stay here so much, I decided to extend for 4 more nights, only checking out on 10 Nov instead. Paloma Lodge is very well located, with only about 5 mins’ walk away from Siwan town centre where all the restaurants, cafés and shops are located. Apart from that, it’s only a stone’s throw away from a fresh water spring, where it’s perfect for an early morning or mid-afternoon swim. The host, Captain Nair, is super kind, warm and hospitable! He made me feel very welcomed and because I was a solo female traveller, he would check on me when I’m out later in the evening. In fact, he invited me to dinners at the lodge with lovely meals, either prepared by the good Captain himself, or his lovely housekeeper, Safie! The lodge is very tastefully decorated and kept very clean. The one-room apartment that I stayed in was very cosy and was sufficiently equipped with kitchen appliances, such as; electric kettle, toaster oven and a fridge. I will definitely stay at Paloma Lodge again, when I come back to Siwa!! It was a very enjoyable and cosy homestay which felt like you are with family. A home away from home.

I spent 5 nights at Grand Siwa and loved the place at the foothills of the mountains! Very nice and comfortable room, fantastic and varied breakfast cooked by Emad, warm and so friendly welcome that you feel at home immediately! I'll start with how breakfast was thoughtful and delightful! Definitely worth waking up for, so fresh! They have the most thoughtful and helpful staff and in addition to their own staff, they are well connected with the community. They were able to arrange everything we wanted to do, and typically under a very tight timeline. They also have a lovely little shop that his packed with local delights. I was visiting with family but it was a trip I took with my sister and our children, and notably without any adult male. As a single mom, it is always important to be able to feel safe and secure in new places. Talist hit and exceeded the mark here! Would recommend 100%.

The location is great, right at the central market area. (although it is wrongly marked on the maps.me app). The hotel has an very earthy feel. The walls are made of mud and earth, and the earth floor unpaved. A very rustic feel. The manager Mr Salama is a swell guy, easygoing, candid, helpful but not pushy. A good chap to talk to to better understand the Siwa people and life in Egypt in general. He helps guests get to know each other and share vehicle costs etc. They serve very nice dinners, and all the numerous coffee my fellow guests and I had at the fireplace or alfresco, were on the house. Much thanks to Mr Salama and his remarkable staff.
