The room was clean and functional and the hotel had real soul and character, which feels rare these days sometimes when traveling. There is free coffee in the mornings from 5am, including decaf, which is very nice. The staff was very friendly and the included breakfast was good. The location of the hotel is incredible.

What we liked the most was securing the hotel lobby entry doors at night, requiring you to have your room key card to enter. This made us feel safe.
However, on departure day I forgot my new black jacket in the room either hanging in the closet or left on the bed. It was purchased in Seattle, during the first part of our trip Nov 1 - 15, because the weather was sooo cold. Upon reaching home I called the hotel while unpacking and discovered it missing. I spoke to the Manager of the Front Office who informed me he will check with the Housekeepers that serviced our room and would call me back. As of today Dec. 12, 2022 Matt has not called back. No one answers when I called the hotel (510-849-1121) several times since checking out. This is very disappointing. I hope someone looks into this and provides an update to me.

Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much!
Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much! My booking said breakfast included. There was none. Not just this motel/hotel, many are renovating, and quiet enjoyment is not good. But did get some rest around 7 pm. The person above me was a heavy walker/ stomper. Even still, I would choose to come back again, because of the size of the bathroom.

Beautiful city with dirty streets.
Beautiful city with dirty streets. Compared to Boston or Cambridge, the city is clearly not doing enough to address unhoused people, especially those suffering mental illness. Their presence is apparent on sidewalks throughout the city. So too is trash, discarded papers, garbage and generally disorder that could at least be ameliorated with decent temporary housing, daily expanded sidewalk cleaning and leasing of dozens of boarded up businesses (even temporarily to artists, etc).

Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley.
Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley. Went there for our son's graduation and had a few days to walk around. We visited the campus, my husband and son went running and we had a nice dinner at Chez Panisse Bistrot (had to make the reservation THE day they opened up the reservations on-line) to celebrate. Lots of food options near the hotel, getting around Berkeley is easy. It was fun seeing the graduates.

I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views.
I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views. The food options are endless and the casual shopping is so much fun. There is so much to see in the town and on Cal campus. The surrounding areas offer a variety of activities and vistas.
Wonderful host! She personally called our room to make sure the accommodations met our needs. I don’t recall any motel or hotel ever showing that level of care towards guests. The building is older because everything in Berkeley is older BUT the furnishings, the bathroom, the bed, the outlets for all the digital gadgets people have, are all modern and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit. A bonus is the walking distance to local eateries and the North Berkeley BART station. No car needed to get over to San Fran.
Comfy, spacious, welcoming house, ideal for families and small groups. Comes with its own parking space. Located in a quiet residential area, with Berkeley Bowl (big supermarket) nearby. Mona and Rod have been friendly and helpful throughout. The house was in good shape, perfectly clean, and furnished with all the necessary accoutrements (some of the fittings needed some fixing - but nothing major). We had a really nice time there, would certainly go back. In sum, great value for money, definitely recommended.
The clerk who take care of check-in was super professional -- really excellent. The housekeeping people were always polite and careful. Lourdes, in particular, really excelled. All personnel was impeccable and highly professional, including people helping at breakfast. Breakfast is included and a lot of fun with the waffle stations. The fitness center is well organized an open 24h. Berkeley downtown BART station just a few steps away.
Downtown Berkeley hotel was a nice surprise. I didn’t have high expectations but found the location to be excellent, the room was clean and comfortable (with amenities you normally don’t see in this price range). The bed was super comfortable and it was quiet so we got a good nights sleep. Parking is inside the building courtyard so it felt very protected.
The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The room was a great value for the price--very clean and great small amenities (coffee maker in room, fridge and microwave, iron and ironing board). The hotel is located right in front of a bus stop that made it easy to get back and forth around Berkeley with plenty of solid dining options nearby.
we've stayed here 4+ times when visiting our child at UC Berkeley. It's near campus and has parking included, which is a great advantage, and it's reasonably priced. There are nicer hotels with more services, and we stay at those on other trips, but we've been satisfied with Travelodge each time we've stayed here.
The Shattuck Plaza is a beautiful old hotel and is near many restaurants and the campus. The front desk was extremely responsive when we had to call down to them twice: once to vacuum up the chips that were left there by a previous guest, and to share that the bathroom light switch was was not working properly.
The hotel is in a nice, quiet area with some great views of the Marina and SF Bay. On clear days, you can see Downtown SF and Golden Gate Bridge across the Bay. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and additional services were provided promptly. The lobby store was an added convenience.
The madam (The owner of the hotel) is very understanding, chats with customers, and also helps with receiving mail.(Because the owner operates this Inn by her own. and she also lives there.)
She is very understanding when there are so problems with the customer's credit card.
The room had everything I needed. It was quite and comfortable. The location is perfect. I loved having the cafe downstairs. The staff in both the cafe and the hotel were exceptionally friendly. Sens is my new go-to place to stay when I visit the Bay Area.
The hotel was amazing! Great location, fabulous roof top patio, excellent happy hour, and great staff especially Rosie who went above and beyond to make our stay so wonderful…thank you so much, Rosie! We would definitely stay again!!!
The breakfast was good standard Holiday Inn Express fare. Quite fine. The location was good, except this area of Berkeley is VERY dirty and full of litter. One could walk to good dining. There was a great icecream shop nearby.
The location, the free carparking, the excellent swimming pool, the lovely bedroom, the character of the hotel, the bocce court, the accommodating reception staff, the laundry facilities, the lemon water available in reception
Great location if you need to go to UC Berkeley. It is also in front of the BART station. The hotel room was very clean and it was comfortable. I didn't try the breakfast or the gym.
It was a neat hotel, trying hard to be cool. Very close to Berkeley campus and not too far from Bart (about a 15 min walk). Staff were friendly and helpful.
