Ideally located in the Hida Takayama Onsen district of Takayama, Relax Hotel Takayama Station is set 2.3 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, 48 km from Gero Station and 700 metres from Fuji Folk... Conveniently close to the train station and a ~10min walk to the old town. The room itself vas very clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast was great, especially the selection of Yakitori.

Well situated in Takayama, Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji offers air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. This 4-star hotel offers a shared kitchen and luggage storage space. We (my wife and I) stayed in the Zenko-Ji Temple hotel for one night and had a fantastic experience. We were greeted warmly right from the beginning by the friendly staff and could check in despite arriving a bit before the check-in time. After the quick check-in we had a small tour of the place and got an introduction to the temple and the various possible activities we can partake in. We had a lovely room (Sakura room), nothing fancy but very fitting to the place itself- traditional, simplistic yet comfortable. The next day we joined the morning prayer at 7:00 am which is highly recommended. Afterwards we also had a meditation session with the head monk who runs the temple/hotel. It was a great experience with some useful insights about meditation. Overall I would highly recommend staying here. It's not a place for a fancy stay but a place that can offer an insight to Buddhism in Japan, where you can have lovely conversations with the friendly staff and enjoy a peaceful environment.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Shiroyamakan offers accommodation in Shirakawa, 1.4 km from Shirakawago. Free private parking is available on site. The entire property is non-smoking. Despite not being fluent in English, all staff (the one family working well together) were welcoming, polite and helpful and were able to develop a more personal connection with guests. Enjoyed the short tour of the village by car at 3.30pm (if you check in and book by 3.15pm) dropping us drop off at the observatory so we could walk back down the hill. Great dinner and breakfast with interesting local dishes and use of local ingredients. Pleasant and interesting music with meals. Wonderful river view and interesting design of room. Lovely wooden onsen overlooking the river. Close to bus and the whole villiage. Everythibg very clean. Spring water onsen and to drink. Was worth the price.
